Mantle Feedback/Bugs

Everything to do with Mantle just instantly crashes for me :o Both the demo and BF4. As soon as click options in BF4 it crashes. DX stuff seems fine.

This is with a stock 290.

EDIT: Solved it. Had to disable then Intel display chip
 
Can anyone confirm this? :confused:

I kind of noticed it on Paracel Storm.Looked a bit different.I think some DX11 effects are not working as it should under Mantle(early release i think)BF was built up on DX tho not Mantle.Whole different story if they build it up from the gound useing Mantle.

people should try low , med ,high ,ultra in single then mp on parcel 64 man !

before and after showing min,avg max.

According to Johan Anderson Mantle makes no changes to image quality vs DX (pulled from his twitter) so if there is a change its a bug.

As per my post in the other thread been a few people claiming that BF4 using mantle is clipping the far plane when rendering (so ultra long range stuff isn't rendered) and covering it up with gradually increasing density fog upto the cut off hence the loss of contrast on distant objects - it should be pretty easy to prove or dissprove that with long range views in golmund though.
 
Just loaded up BF4 to take for a spin.

Crossfire 7970's at stock, 3930k at stock.

Ultra + 200% oversample @ 1080p.

Map was Zavod, 64 player server fully stacked. Latency in the 20ms range.

In terms of Frames per second, very little difference at all, maybe 2-3fps in it.

Not a game changer at this stage.
 
People are starting to complain that the visual quality in mantle is not as good as DirectX but I won't say I told you so on the other thread that got archived now. Ohh well AMD ... and anyone that believes it's a bug needs an eye test it's clear from screenshots now appearing on the internet that AMD are using cheap tricks to raise the frame rate. So basically sacrifice DirectX high quality visuals for faster frame rates in Mantle.

Let's hope they fix it and not do what Nvidia did in the past with their driver settings to make it look like Nvidia cards were faster than AMD/ATI and the only reason they were faster was because they lowered visual quality to achieve the faster performance. Both companies are just as bad as each other really and hope people don't notice their cheap tricks.
 
Before things slide down into the usual slanging match can we have some benches and screen shots to see if there is anything worth arguing over first. :cool:

Sounds like FUD or more likely a bug with the game. Remember Ultra terrain detail was actually medium terrain detail? Anyway i tweeted a link to the url to johan and will see what he says.
