Mantle Feedback/Bugs

Tried this last night on my 7950 seems smoother (cant tell as fraps doesnt work) but after a few mins i will get a lot of stuttering then it wil stop then start up again a bit later

14.1 is a Mantle fail for me but on DX, BF4 is a lot smoother (right up to the point it locks up/restarts the comp without warning etc.......) :(

Started getting BF4 crashes (Game just freezes - have to task manager quit out). Both at OC and stock.

Strange as it was working fine a few days ago. *shrug*

For me, some AMD drivers killed my overclocking potential. Rolling back instantly allowed me to run the higher clocks again.

Try toning your OC down a bit to see if it helps.

Anything I try that uses Mantle just crashes, that is Starswarm and also BF4. Don't have and Intel processor so no issues with the on board Graphics card having to be disabled. Have and MSI 290 Gaming edition.

Wonder is this is a driver issue or an hardware issue now. I've had to roll back to driver to 13.12

I will have to roll back for now too, I have been having same issues, it worked great before and now i cant even get in game to change back to DX

Any suggestions how i can change game settings without going into game ???

Cheers

Go into C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\Battlefield 4\settings\PROFSAVE_profile

Set "GstRender.MantleEnabled 1" back to "GstRender.MantleEnabled 0"

That should allow the game to start up again.

Oh man, this **** makes me laugh. Talk about over promising and underdelivering! So you actually get worse performance with Mantle than you do on DX11 on certain cards?

I know it's not fully optimised yet or whatever, but this is pretty underwhelming.

For me (i7 920 + 2 7970s) the difference in FPS and Smoothness is massive. Even though my cards and crossfire aren't supposedly supported yet.

The only problems I have with 14.1 is a memory leak and huge CPU spikes after a while in game but i'm sure they will get sorted out on a later Beta driver.

For now I'm back on the 13.12 drivers. I'm Really looking forward to the Mantle drivers when they have ironed out the issues.

+1.

When I first installed 14.1, the performance of Mantle was significantly lower than DX11 on BF4. However, it felt more smooth. I since reinstalled and now the performance is about level and Mantle feels smooth, apart from the lag spikes lasting around 300ms that everyone is getting. I get lag spikes on DX11 too, but they are more frequent, but less noticeable.

Considering that my Card (7990) hasn't been optimised, I am pleasantly surprised. The graphics look a bit dull at the moment, but DICE has said that it's a known bug and will be fixed. If they can edge some extra performance out of my system and eliminate or at least ease the lag spike issue then I will be a very happy puppy.

If you are having trouble, it may be worth just removing the drivers completely and reinstalling. Even though I installed the same way both times, the 2nd time netted me a 20fps boost to my average. Considering that's on 2560x1440, that's pretty significant. (even though it's only throwing it in line with DX11 again. So I would recommend, giving the drivers another install before rolling back.

If you're running 64bit mode I think it could be because of Ram... I had 6GB for a month or so and BF4 would work fine then stop working the next day etc, as soon as I switched to 12Gb it stopped.

Although it could be coz of the memory leak (which i think is now fixed). If you weren't crashing before on previous drivers and only freeze/crash on 14.1 then ignore everything i said.

For the cards that are supported (290/290x) are those getting lag spikes then? Far too many pages to dig through sorry >.<
