Mantle Feedback/Bugs

Had exactly the same problem, also with StarSwarm and Mantle. Rolled back to the old driver in the end.

I noticed windows would automatically reinstall the HD*000 CPU graphics driver after disabling/uninstalling making games crash at the start of the .exe into the game. Either need to disable iGPU in BIOS or double check it hasnt reinstalled on PC reboot.

I think some of those having the 'was fine one day and not the next' maybe down to Windows reinstalling the CPU graphics driver on next reboot.

I noticed that If you had 14.1 drivers and bf4 set to mantle but did not put back to dx and went back to 13.12 drivers you would have to change the setting in bf4 profile for mantle back to 0 I did this and my fps are better now

Hello sin.. how did u do this exactly? Im back on 13.12 but still get the options crash and i guess its cuz i didnt change back to Mantle API before rolling back the driver :(

Edit.. Nevermind i found it but its set to 0 already. I rolled back to 13.12.. I even tried 13.11 beta! Same crap! Obviously its the Mantle patch doing this now. They need to make it so we can run Intel graphics aswell.. I mean wtf? We cant use that if we use Mantle? Sorry but i know what im choosing especially when i use Quick Sync.

AMD? Dice? EA? Get yer **** together else i might just jump to the green team

did you use ddu or similar to clean install drivers each time?
i rolled back a few times and never had to make sure mantle was not selected. in fact each time i rolled back drivers mantle was turned on before doing it. if the driver doesnt support it then the option isnt there.

At this point i cant be bothered to report anything as they should be aware of this shambles they put out already

I used DDU for the first time ever and that didnt fix anything. Im just gona disable Intel graphics or use the BF4 profile if i wana change anything. Maxed out 2xMSAA @ 1080p is running nicely so i'll just leave it at that.

Hopefully there will be a patch down the road that'll fix the Intel issue. I can run DX and Intel IGP together.. why not Mantle and Intel IGP?

Its like having a 2 seater sports cars but u cant have ur girlfriend in the passenger seat.

Hi,
I don't have an integrated Card, running AMD CPU. Also did the driver sweep as well. Afterwards made sure the correct driver version was installed, no go, anything to do with Mantle just crashes.
I went back to 13.12 now, it might be my imagination, but it is now not feeling a smooth to me as before all the troubles with the 14.2 beta start, but that could just be my imagination.

I dont think so, I dont have a igpu.

Like I said, for those that DO have iGPU they may find it of help.

Apologies for not knowing your CPU's

May I ask what do you use the iGPU for?

If you can't be bothered to report it, why should they be bothered to fix it?

I know, why don't you just sit there and hope all your issues in life will be solved and things will fall in your lap, like most of society seems to these days. Or here's an idea, don't run BETA software and then sit there and roll your eyes all day at the problems you encounter but can't be bothered to help to fix.

No, it's more like being a crash test dummy or test driver and wondering why you can't use the test car to do your weekly shopping trip with the family.

While what you say is valid as such - it would have been a good idea if they hadn't talked it up quite as much as they did then release something thats quite so broken - albeit a beta. Pretty much number 2 rule of business. Given how much hype and talking they did it would have been a good idea to release something that would make a good impression from the off.

Instead they released something that feels rushed and as if they had to quickly whip around at the last minute to hack something up that would half deliver on their claims.

The thing about making games is, all the while there are people complaining about how broken it its, there are people who wont buy the game... If they want to sell more copies they have to fix it

Professional game making companies have paid testers who should be able to report on bugs and help fix them, just sayin

And especially in the case of Mantle, lots of devs looking on to see if it is worth implementing

Bad press is in neither AMDs nor DICEs best interests

Was it more a case of them over hyping it, or numerous people on forums like this still not seeming to understand what it is they are doing/trying to do and what BETA tests and early software are all about ?

And even if, in some people's opinions, they did over talk it. Where once have they said this is a done and dusted, fully completed, released, finished, no issues, not a BETA, product ? Have they released non BETA drivers? Have they removed the option from their website to report issues with the drivers and software?

And feels rushed to who exactly? You with an nVidia card in your sig, or me sat here, you know, actually using it on a 7970 and with no where near the size or number of issues that people seem to be blowing it up in to? If you have tried it and experienced these issues for yourself, first hand then I apologise.

tbh, just in a bad mood today and as much as I try and bite my lip on this place there is so much rubbish spouted on here at times it is hard to do so.

I agree with all this. BUT this is BETA software, if you are willing to download and try BETA software then you should be willing to report issues you find, or don't moan about them and sit there rolling your eyes like it's all so simple.

They cannot test everything. Hence put these things out so that those that are willing to test can help find issues and feed back. This isn't ask jeeves or yahoo questions, no one here is wearing a purple shirt or selling over priced HDMI cables on the shop floor to people who don't know better. This is Overclockers, an enthusiasts forum and I am genuinely interested in this stuff, just annoys the hell out of me that I have to read 80% drivel and moaning about things, rather than proper information and fixes for these issues that people find.

And yes I do see the irony in all this and am now wishing I'd just not bothered and this is the internet and I may as well just smash a brick into my face over and over. :D

My second and third monitor are used with Intels IGP and my main monitor is using HDMI on my 7950 and only used for gaming. Also the idle clocks with extended monitor have gone higher again since i updated drivers. Even rolling back to 13.11 Beta didnt resolve the higher clocks/temps.

Anyway i seem to have stutter with BBC iPlayer when i use AMD extended monitor but this doesnt happen when i use Intels IGP.

Gaming seems smoother when i have my 7950 hooked up to just my first monitor anyway :)

As Rroff said. They hyped it all up and it came out half assed. They really should have took more time on this.. like BF4.. its a mess.

I think the issue is BF4 is still in BETA, its the only thing i have had problems with before 14.1 and it remains the only thing i have problems with now.

It makes you wonder why AMD chose an EA game to showcase Mantle, a company that releases game after game with major bugs on release. I know it was a big pull getting EA on board because of the amount of sales their games have but still...

I think they chose Johan Anderson and DICE, in the round, who just happen to have to answer to EA.
