***Mass Effect 2***SPOILER THREAD***

What? Thats not even close to how CSI happens. Although it could be CSI Miami... but then again that can't hold a candle to CSI Vegas.

Yeah that fight couldn't have said 'Terminator' any more clearly :p I just thought.. if someone says "i'll be back" its time to /facepalm
It always annoys me when someone clearly passes through an object in scripted events... like Jokers chair.

Never watched CSI and i don't plan on watching it anytime soon.
No one is forcing you to read it. Just thought some members on here might find it funny.

Note, these are not mine.

Ah, Blue Oyster Cult, that takes me back.

Good game, very enjoyable. Though I miss some of the features they cut.

I'm in that sad, come down phase now where I hop around random related forums leaving the occasional thought. So, given I've not read any of this thread, has anyone else seen Legion doing his robo dance? Yes? No? Whatever. A more sure bet is looking for minerals on Uranus, it's in the Local Cluster of course.

Damn I want to bounce the Mako around some random planet, perhaps I'll buy a hamster...

The reason it dissappointed me was, the total lack of importance of characters from the first game instantly left me with the impression that I didn't give a crap what I did to characters/with characters in the second game, because I'm now assuming they'll barely be in the 3rd game and will react to me completely irrationally and stupidly. I guess it ruined the continuity in the game for me.
I think ME3 will be a different story. ME2 was an experiment - lets face it, importing save games and have it affect your story to such an extent as it did (even though it could have done more) has never been done before, and they've a few years now to work on ME3 and make it an even more effective system.

I can say this with 100% certainty:

NONE of the characters from ME1 or ME2 will be recruitable. None of them. They'll all have bit parts, a few lines and form a small part of the plot, but thats it.

Why? Because how can you write large chunks of gameplay/plot around characters that might be dead? Its the same as they did for Wrex/Ash/Kaiden in ME2. You'd have to write in large sections for all of the "maybe" characters, as well as the main recuitables that'll be in ME3. Its just not feasible.

Same applies to drunkenmasters comments regarding continuity - I think they did a *fantastic* job in the continuity, considering what they had to work with in terms of variation in endings....not entirely sure how anyone can criticise them for it. Keeping the coherance while maintaning multiple stories/options must be a real challenge, something that'll be 10x harder in ME3...

Are there any characters in ME2 that can't die in the storyline assuming you survive? I ask this as i had the super good ending where everyone survived.

Everyone can die afaik, including Shepard, I think Joker is the only one who cant die

I had the super happy ending too, saving everyone

See, i'd have preferred it if some characters couldn't die (assuming you completed the mission). That way you could have those few certainly carry on to ME3 and therefore would allow for further plot development. I assumed characters such as Thane couldn't die as his upgrade didn't affect the Normandy in combat situations so it wouldn't have caused him to die in the mission if you didn't use his upgrade.... or at least i hoped that was the case.

Thane probably wont be in 3 anyway, or maybe just a brief cameo, with the whole dying and all :)

So long as I can have Garrus with me to finish the fight I dont really mind:)

Having read up on it and found that none of the characters certainly surivive the mission i can only assume all of them will have cameo roles in the final game at best. They won't bother including such a huge number of characters as important team mates if there's a good chance many of the people playing it will have killed them off in the previous game. I'm even beginning to wonder whether Shepard will even be the main character in the final game.

Im sure they have some way around it.

I doubt they'd have added the possibility of character deaths without thinking of the ramifications for 3. Though I do see your point; adding a whole set of new characters would be adding too many for my liking. I guess the two from the first game will return in some capacity

I guess the two from the first game will return

Which two do you mean? All of the characters from the first game that i can think of may have died somewhere along the line. As a result i can't see the writers including any of them as significant parts in ME3. Look at ME2, all of the characters that couldn't die in ME1 had important roles, all of those that could (Wrex, Ashley etc) had tiny little cameos. I can only see the same thing happening in ME3 and considering EVERYONE could die in that, i can't see them making any of them important characters again.

Liara and Ash/Kadian

Ah i forgot about Liara, she could indeed play an important role. Either Ash or Kaiden are dead, so including them as main characters would mean writing a shed load of dialogue, of which 50% is guaranteed to not be used. It just seems like a lot of wasted man power.

'A' Shepard, so a clone of him. I can only assume they've handpicked a selection of the main characters and said 'ok if these guys survive, they're in Mass Effect 3 as themselves, if they die, they're 'clones' with a bit of dialogue indicating this at the start, but everything else is the same'.

Clever, a bit lame i guess, but clever.
