*** Mass Effect 3 ***

In the case of ME I don't really think canon is the right word to use tbh, in some series you have a proper canon which can be quite serious and people do care about it, but with the ME games, the default choices are just for people who are too lazy to actually play the game, so this new mode that is coming out for ME 3 which apparently chooses options for you is just for people who haven't played the others, or play them in a way where they don't regard the story at all(don't understand it myself)

I mean who just going to skip all of the choices!? 'Canon' will not matter to anyone who actually plays the games. I can't see Bioware actually pushing a canon path on us really.

I would think the only thing that counts as true canon is Shephard surviving ME2, everything else is subject to previous choices, every squad mate in ME3 depends on previous actions in ME1 (Kaiden/Ashley/Wrex) or ME2 (Everyone else), the Council depends on ME1.

Naturally that is just characters, everything that happens in terms of story always happens regardless of who is there unless it's specific to a character. The only thing I think that doesn't follow this is the end of Arrival because if you fail the entire galaxy goes boom.

I am quite pleased that they are not introducing many new squad members tbh.

It makes sense, I imagine the few that they are adding are basically to fill out the crew if everyone died in ME2. I mean other than Shephard the only people left would be Liara and Kaiden/Ash, which wouldn't give much in the way of choice.

On that note, think I'm going to replay ME2 with a perfect ME1 save (thank you internet!) to make sure I'm ready for ME3.

I was going to do that but then I thought do u know what I made those decisions and I want to see the consequences of them
Cant wait till this games out really want to see how your actions from the previous 2 play out.

I'm far too obsessive to do something like that.

@ Westie, they are all here: http://www.masseffectsaves.com/ with details on how to use them.

There are ME2 saves as well.

Just thinking, is anyone else REALLY interested to find out what will happen with the Rachni queen from ME1?

I really want to see if me saving the Rachni queen plays into it

Will Wrex be in the game if hes saved fro ME1? Thought it was rubbish that hes dead in ME2 if you didnt have a save from ME1

Yeah, really interested to find out the consequences of saving them.

Wrex is there - the early gameplay videos on Sur'Kesh featured him, although not on the squad (may be a temp squaddie at some point I hope).

The Mass effect is massively overrated imo.

Not bad games, but nothing special.
Fair enough. :)

Personally I can't find anything better. Sure other games might excel at gameplay/combat/exploration, but without characters and a story to care about it means nothing.

Agreed, the games have so many aspects that it's impossible to be the best at everything, but regarding the overall package it's completely unmatched.

I'll wildly hazard a guess that when the chips are down and all seems lost, the Rachni queen will storm in with her army of millions and turn the tide.

Seriously though I can't see them making a great deal of difference considering there will be a lot of people who don't have them.

I loved ME1, due to its unique flavour if anything of a game universe.

ME2 was more concentrated but forgot a few things, nothing important though.

I really am not sure about ME3, Bioware just seems different now, less artists and more salesman, then what can you expect from the clown that is EA with all its tendrils drilling into companies that it has bought.

I do hope that the game can still pull it off, but i will be cautious.

Mass Effect is a nice combo of action/RPG with a Sci-Fi setting, which is a nice change from the typical sword and sorcery fantasy title.

Love the electronic soundtrack, the game feels very cinematic at times. Not perfect of course what game is.
