*** Mass Effect 3 ***

Mass Effect has such potential with some of the best characters I've seen, I loved Grunt and Mordin etc, but I feel that ME3 won't deliver on the character front due to the variables.

Why do you think that ? if anything I think ME3 will be better. Because we will see the return of characters like Liara, Wrex and Ashley who were amazing in ME1.
Plus if you have played through ME1+2 the variables will be down to choices you have made and events that have happened throughout your play through.

My only personal thing is I would loved more lore on the Protheans but I have a feeling its not going to show up to much in ME3.

I thought the characters in ME2 were faaaar better than ME, but at the cost of of overall plot. So mission accomplished, Bioware were selling it as a character driven story. I would love to see some of the characters from 2 make a reappearance, Mordin and Grunt were brilliantly done, I loved Thane and I must be one of the few that really liked Jack.

I warmed to Garrus in ME2, but I'm still not the biggest fan and Tali aside from the alien taboo eye-candy fetish factor, I could take or leave. Wrex was only character from ME I cared about to any extent, but I thought Grunt was great and I hope he comes back.

Just like BF3, origin won't understand when files have been copied from another PC to save having to download it all over again. So my brother has to DL another 2GB just because it's a really, really bad system.

I turned on save installer files now for future download, but hate having to take up more room for no reason, steam lets you copy paste gcfs/common/folders and after a restart sees it has the files already.

Derp.

Really ? I guess its just personal preference when it comes to characters. But to me the ME1 chars were amazing. I'm not saying ME2 was bad, they were also very good. But I was dissapointed not to have Liara in ME2 for instance (apart from DLC) although I understand why due to events in the Redemption comic series and I guess it showed in LOTSB.

Tali I really liked and really loved the whole Quarian culture. Garrus I have always been a bit meh on he is ok but I'm not a huge fan of him (that goes for ME1+2)

I find the quarian and asari cultures fascinating, actually they done a great job of fleshing out all of the races, the lore is as good as I have come across. I just didn't think Tali or Liara were particularly interesting characters. ME2 and LotSB gave Liara some more much needed depth.

The problem with making characters able to die is they seem to have a reduced role in subsequent games. They are not willing to create content that might not be played. Pretty much invalidates most of the crew from ME2 which is a shame as there are some great characters.

There's too many characters, for them all to get a game they deserve would take forever.
I loved Wrex, but I also loved Grunt, I'd want both of them, what about Jacob? He became more like a friend to Sheppard, with the whole Cerberus twist stuff, it's just annoying.

About the "wrex thing" choosing numerous deaths doesn't change it. Also, dialogue choices don't seem to have much effect on replies or even what you say in one case. I had another go with Infiltrator and they didn't see fit to give you a sniper rifle, good job, Bioware!

Ok well I think ima start steering clear of this thread for a bit now cuz I can sense incoming spoilers.

MY SPIDER SENSE IS TINGLING ! :p

But well I agree there are lots of chars in it but I think they all have a fair bit of depth to them.

But yay gief Prothean lore !!!!!

Too me though a console port is when it's ripped straight from the consoles to PC without changing anything, on ME1 and ME2 the UI was different on each system, they optimised it for keyboard and mouse, that's why you couldn't use a controller with it. That to me is not a straight console port.

ME1 had a different UI, shortcut keys to the codex and journal so no controller support was somewhat understandable.

ME2 was barely different and also was lazy and had no hotkeys to use the journal or codex and because of this I could hardly be bothered using them.

ME3 is probably going go be more like 2 (not played the demo) over all Bioware are incredibly lazy with their PC ports and I don't really see why they can't add both layouts in for those that want it. Not surprisingly ME1 was the least lazy port and also the only one NOT done by Bioware.

Isn't this the same demo that was on show at E3?

Kind of hoping that it is, so its based on an old / outdated build & the niggles will have been sorted out for the release version.

I was holding on to these kind of "excuses" when the DA2 demo came out. I'll not make that mistake again. It would be nice if it's the case, but as far as I'm concerned I've been playing the finished product.

Bestow upon me knowledge, wizard, all knowing, all wise.

EDIT: By that I mean can you tell us how you know this and how reliable the source of said knowledge is?

I won't spoil anything, but my information is very reliable. The Protheans were major players in the events of the first two games, so it shouldn't be much of a surprise that they are still involved in the third.

I tried the demo last night , being a huge mass effect fan I couldn't resist. Is it me or are the textures in the demo really, really nasty. I'm sure they are worse than in ME 1 & 2. I really hope the full version has some higher resolution textures.

On the plus side the inclusion of anti-aliasing in-game is nice.

Right off the bat, if you look at shepards clothing as he is leaving the room in the first scene he/she is in. The textures are brutal.
