****MASS EFFECT : ANDROMEDA****

I'm liking the look of the Tempest, very sleek & purposeful but still kinda reminiscent of the Normandy.

Excitement building!!!

Hopefully they wont reveal too much before release as I felt Dragon Age: Inquisition had a little too much shown before release.

Interesting theories being discussed over at the Bioware forum:

Not sure of source but our choices could be between a brother or sister as protagonist. As the 'Ryder' family are making the journey together apparently?
Is it possible that we're settlers or crew on the mission with perhaps a leadership which will make dubious choices that we have to decide weather to follow or rebel against?
Is the mission Conquest or Diplomacy? perhaps we get to choose how we are going to save humanity?
What ever I can't wait to find out!!

I would be excited by that trailer except for two things. One is Mass Effect 3, the other is Dragon Age Inquisition.

I didn't mind the ending of Mass Effect 3 if you chose to destroy the reapers but the other 2 choices could have been so much better.
Dragon Age Inquisition was good but after playing The Witcher 3 you realise how empty the maps are, how badly designed the population centres are and also the characters had no real depth to them. The side quests were pretty crap too.
Dragon Age Origins never really had a worthy successor and that's a shame.

I thought the whole of ME3 was nonsensical(can sum it up in one word- Crucible), not just the end. It had two great moments that were really well written, then whenever the main plot came back it was unbelievably poor imo.

Every time I hear them say about exploring and setting up outposts etc I just keep thinking back to the maps in DA:I. Empty maps that you just run through killing faceless enemies and then raise a flag or something.

At least the Mako is back though, so there might be hope for some proper exploration.

Dude, I am stoked about the Mako coming back!

It wasn't well executed in ME1, but it had a ton of potential. Just needed

a) better controls

b) more variety in locations to find

The last one was probably the biggest problem. Apart from the rare unique mission, 95% of locations were just this carbon copy warehouse thing with a bit of ok loot in it.
Hell yes, I am also happy about that.

ME2 and ME3 complete linear borefests for me. EA got involved and did the norm for them, making it appeal to the arcade crowd, stripped most of the RPG elements away and just made it a story based shooter which held your hand. ME1 by far and away the best experience, because it was just Bioware then right. Had perfect exploration, amazing music, amazing story, best gear system, sensible dialogue with good character progression and firefights felt more tactical. The whole series is still the best in history, but for me personally me2 and me3 was not a patch on me1.

I like the sound of where ME4 is going. Let me go where I want, let me explore distant civilisations and systems, let me choose my own crew, make my own stories, great gear with loadouts/different ammo types etc. Also, let me land on any planet I wish and let me drive the Mako where I want. Give me the freedom of space with a story thrown in and I'll be as happy as anything.
I almost fully agree with you, although the inventory sorting of ME1 was bad tbh. Marginally better on pc once it was ported but on console it was awful having to scroll through weapon mods and so on.

You can count on one hand the number of items you need though. Just omni-gel everything else. :p

A wee interview with Mac Walters who doesn't really give much away, but still worth watching.

The ME3 ending is a sore point and always will be with me, but the story and universe are so good otherwise, that I can forgive it. I recently took the refusal option and it was an interesting ending.

I've never played any of the DA games, but from what people have said abotu the emptiness of the worlds in DA:I I really hope ME:A isn't just the former in space...

Seriously hyped for this game which is dangerous :/

Love or hate the Mako, it was much MUCH better than the aweful hammerhead.
