****MASS EFFECT : ANDROMEDA****

A little harsh, but I preferred the old school mechanics of 1 than 2 or 3.
Genuinely hated the Mako missions, hope that dies in a fire in the new one.

Apparently Mako is still making a return according to a Facebook comment they made, But sounds like they are rethinking it.

I am heavily looking forward to this and hope it isn't a disappointment ill hold high hopes for now.

They are showing gameplay footage June 12th so that will be interesting.

ME2 was the sweet spot for me, best balance between gameplay and story.

I find it hard to replay ME1 because of the clunky interface and Mako missions.

ME3 wasn't great for the story (for obvious reasons) but gameplay was fine and I still enjoy the Multiplayer mode.

Same here on all points.

I think the only I reason I can't play ME1 is because I played through ME2 several times before trying the first game and it just felt too weird and clunky.

Are you playing on PC or console? I ask because last time I tried multiplayer on the PC ME3 a few months ago, it was utterly dead and I couldn't find a match.

ME2 and ME3 complete linear borefests for me. EA got involved and did the norm for them, making it appeal to the arcade crowd, stripped most of the RPG elements away and just made it a story based shooter which held your hand. ME1 by far and away the best experience, because it was just Bioware then right. Had perfect exploration, amazing music, amazing story, best gear system, sensible dialogue with good character progression and firefights felt more tactical. The whole series is still the best in history, but for me personally me2 and me3 was not a patch on me1.

I like the sound of where ME4 is going. Let me go where I want, let me explore distant civilisations and systems, let me choose my own crew, make my own stories, great gear with loadouts/different ammo types etc. Also, let me land on any planet I wish and let me drive the Mako where I want. Give me the freedom of space with a story thrown in and I'll be as happy as anything.

I am still amazed anyone (developer wise) played through the original game on PC and didn't go "wait a minute the Mako is ridiculously tedious to drive around lets make this a more enjoyable experience".

The only thing I really found bad about the interface/mechanics really other than being a bit clunky was that a lot of stuff wasn't very well documented or obvious inventory wise and some of the progression trees for stuff was a bit meh.

ME2 with the lair of the shadow broker stuff (the final room really fleshes out the rest of the game if you utilise it properly) was overall more enjoyable for me I think but nothing tops the first few minutes of ME1.

And yet the RPG heavy mechanics of ME1 and the Mako missions made the first game the one I struggled most with.

I found ME2 more about enhancing the relationships with the crew rather than advancing the storyline, save for the last couple of missions. I wanted to know more about the universe and the various races and their history, not that Miranda has Daddy issues. The game mechanics though we're the sweet spot for me.

ME3 was really more of an OTS cover shooter with a lot in common with the Division now than ME1. Sure there were some tacked on RPG elements but it was more action game than RPG. Kind of RPG-lite. I still enjoyed it though and the Multiplayer was actually pretty enjoyable I thought.

I'm playing through ME atm, with mods for controller support and the high res texture one. I'll go on to 2 but won't bother with 3. It is a disaster.

All the stuff they are saying about exploring is just making me think about Dragon Age Inquisition... Yeah I'm not that excited tbh.

Was loving the trailer .... until the Mako appeared. Urgh. But other than that, it's looking fantastic.

What did you make of the extended cut? I was happy that they made it a free DLC, but having experienced it I can't imagine how disappointed I'd have been if I had paid anything for it.

It was utter crap :D even polished still crap - fan gave Bioware a way out but because Hudson's ego wouldn't allow it *this is why he was removed as director; and basically his career at bioware/ea was over after this; but they still went with that crap of an ending; I've only met 1 person that said they didn't mind it; rest it was wtf was that*

Bit of a shocker with Casey Hudson leaving. Wonder if it's anything to do with EA? Obviously he's not going to burn any bridges by speaking publically about it.

no Hudson screwed the pooch with his ending with ME3 - EA stood by him; but removed him as director and lead writer; they wouldn't put him as a director on any other projects after that.

All he did was copy Deus Ex ending as he's said many times that's his favorite game of all time.

laziest freaking writing.........ever

Dude, I am stoked about the Mako coming back!

It wasn't well executed in ME1, but it had a ton of potential. Just needed

a) better controls

b) more variety in locations to find

The last one was probably the biggest problem. Apart from the rare unique mission, 95% of locations were just this carbon copy warehouse thing with a bit of ok loot in it.

I can't believe even now that people are still harping on about it. Deus Ex HR had an equally terrible ending. Actually, crap endings have always been a thing with games as far back as I can remember. :(

After the extended cut was done, I don't think the ME3 ending was *that* bad providing you had full war assets.

Sure, I wanted a "happily ever after" conclusion and didn't like the rubbish starchild part, but meh. I got over it.

Difference is - Edios Montreal apologized for the ending; and said yep it was lazy and you know what we agree we could do better and next time we will.

BW - nope sorry but our audience is wrong in their opinion it was a terrible ending......

Big difference.....

I loved the Mako - yea it was a bit clunky on PC; but nothing like launching yourself in the air 50+ meters and then trying to land safely......so much fun :D
