****MASS EFFECT : ANDROMEDA****

A considerable chunk of games have day 1 patches these days. It's not something to be concerned over.

Better that they're patching it day 1 than waiting a week.

Oh I'm not bemoaning about the need for day 1 patches. I'm under no illusions that the old days of yore when a game could be released without even patching are now consigned to the days of antiquity. Although I do find it ironically funny that my last such game was Mass Effect 1. :)

Rather, my concern was of the rumors that a Day 1 patch was required for what sounded like a game breaking or ultra critical component of the game that is needed to even get it running. Hopefully this is rumor only, but I'd rather take the wait and see approach over this matter, considering I also only have a HD7950, so not that far off from the minimum requirements. So might be best for me to see what recommended settings, patches and changes (maybe a new GPU?) others experience before I take the plunge for the game.

New video up on masseffect.com part 5 for weapons training. FYI it randomly pauses on the different weapons, Annoyed the hell out of me when I was watching.

I thought I'd been inadvertently clicking the mouse initially:o:D

From what I have seen thus far, I am impressed with how this looks. Pretty sure I will pick this up on day one.

Hmmm. Concerned about the "rumored" day 1 patch being needed ...

At this point, I'm going to agree, but knowing me. Being a ME fan, I'll cave in a week before launch... I was even debating taking a couple of days off to play it.

I think this new vid from Minius will help guide you to purchase guys:cool:

1: Bigger than the original trilogy combined...

2: Thousands of possible power combinations...

3: Possibly loot from the fallen...

4: Drack is ancient ( some more insight into the world of the Krogan before the Genophage?)...

5: Biotic and Tech combos with squad more controllable than we'd feared...

Hype, Hype Hype...:cool::D

Hmmm. I'm wondering if I want to pick this up on XBox One (so I can reclaim my ME1-3 collection as well on the emulation) or if Bioware will really stick with no relation to the first ME1-3 series. Because if Bioware really won't need any save info from the ME1-3 series, then I won't mind picking it up on PC (even with Origin). But if at some point it tags info from save games, I'm going to be annoyed again as my Shepard is on the XBox 360.

PC (better setup) or XBox One (For whole series on one system)? Day 1 (Get stuck in straight away) or wait (price drop)? Can't decide yet.

They have all ready said few times this has nothing to do with 1-3, they have distanced themselves from them a fair bit and barely mentioned the others unless asked. Be very odd to try get a link into it on 2,3. Andromeda saves probably carry over though

I know that Bioware have said they don't want Andromeda to have any direct links with ME1-3, but I can see "passing comments" about communications that were just received during Andromeda 2 or 3 where it might reference the Reaper War that could take from the ME1-3 saves. I hope not, but there's a nagging feeling for me as I worry some players might make a commotion about it not being "Mass Effect" and cause Bioware to sneak something in for "Loyal" players of the whole series. Again, I hope not.

My only real concern now is back to XBox (One for the whole series, including ME1-3 and DLC) or start anew on PC (where my GPU may not be enough)? I "have" been convinved to go Day 1 now. :) So just a matter of platform really. :D

If your worried about gpu I'd just go to xbox and save the potential hassle or lowering settings, I only opted for pc version as I just recently upgraded it prior to that I was getting it on ps4 pro

Seeing as you can kill pretty much everyone or doom the entire galaxy to another cycle of harvest, I doubt they'll import saves.

Plus if you could, the marketing team would have already been all over it.

call me an old fuddy duddy, but I hate this new direction of "you can play any class, hotswap between classes and setups in battle"

That's just a horrible mechanic only aimed at todays simple pick up and achieve everything in a couple hours type gamer. It's just a bloody glorified shooter this game, I'm getting the perfect picture of what this game is wanting to be, and it aint Mass Effect.

"Will the real Mass Effect please stand up, please stand up, please stand up"

I loved picking a class, playing through the game, then playing through the game again as a different class, making it a different experience each time. Easy to solve obviously, if I do buy the game, I'll just play the game through how I want, pick a class and ONLY use abilities specific to that class.

^ True beyond belief. Everything is being catered to be easy for instant gratification. I would love to see some of today's audiences try to complete some old school games.

Oh I didn't realize this was releasing in the US 2 days before UK.. has it always been like this? Damnit.. going to have to switch off the internet to avoid spoilers :(

So there not then are they, as you pointed out you can choose to just play a class like you plan on doing or have abit of a mix, this caters for all. Not every one has time to replay a game multiple times

Completely understand where you're coming from. Growing up on classic Fallout, Baldur's Gate and other isometric RPGs that were at times rock hard, and where you couldn't have all the abilities to open all the chests, experience all the plot etc I'd agree that perhaps something has been lost. However if you look at the stats of AAA games these days, a lot of people don't finish a game once, let alone try a NG+ or a different character. Also, being older now and being barely able to commit to an hour in the evening, being able to experience the whole game once is a bonus for me.

For more info, check out these stats:

Only 39.8% people played the game twice. Almost half of people went with soldier!

I'm going PC for first run:)

I'm replaying via backwards compatibility and enjoying every minute. I'm not sure EA would want Andromeda tied to prior ME titles because of the fan base expectations, but I'd love it if they connected back to the milky way:cool:

Imagine an epic intervention just prior to Star Brat (I know it would involve time travel etc:o but it could be epic! ...really it could!!!!:o:D:cool:)
