****MASS EFFECT : ANDROMEDA****

i dont think its even the facial animations..its the eyes..they seem entirely independent of whats actually going on

it like they hired Terry Gilliam to do the eyes regardless of what the characters are looking at or who they are speaking to

everybody seems in a permanent state of wide eyed amazement

obviously it doesnt affect the non human races so speaking to them is fine

its the mad staring humans who roll their eyes or look at you shiftily with sideways glances

Yeah the eyes are all over the place, and the eyebrows have a life of their own at times too.

Most of the mouth 'shapes' are over-exaggerated / cartoony in appearance.

Which just gives the lip-syncing a bad look in most scenes.

If the facial animation is done using morph targets, then it shouldn't be too complicated to tone it down.

It would be time consuming though, unless they can tell the engine to apply just 50% of the morph shapes instead of 100%.

watch some compare vids with ME3 on youtube and although they are not perfect, something about the Frostbite and MEA animations is just 'off'.

The animations look like they have been done by hand, and they do not look like they went through a Quality Assurance pass to level you would hope from a developer like Bioware

If this was 3-4 years ago it might have been more acceptable but as Motion Capture and Performance capture becomes more common place in Games (and in film) this all looks a little amateurish, again something which you would hope not to associate with Bioware

People just have to admit the game is really unpolished and rushed out the door on this front, however that isnt an exucse for the other issues.

Long may the legacy of ME1-3 reign.

Daft question is there a cover button or is it just auto cover when near obstacles? or do i just jump around like my backside is on fire lol ,not sure im liking this new combat system feels odd at the moment......

Some of the comparison videos of in game footage pre release and after, when it comes to graphics and facial animations are startling.
