Massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake In Turkey

Sweden sending help for a Nato approval?

I think birds and animals reacting is a response in a change to the local electromagnetic fields from the extreme stresses being exerted on the rock.

I'm sure there's research into audible wavelength noise too.

Anyway, horrible. I hope rescue teams are successful time is critical :(

Sounds like Northern Syria is going to be in a worse state, since the infrastructure was already ****** from the Syrians & Russians having blown the **** out of it this last decade

So with all the aid rushing to Turkey seems Syria is being overlooked a bit atm. Plus I think they said the weather there is atrocious, with snow storms etc, so it's more difficult to get help in.

I'm sure Russia and the Syrian government will be rushing to help along with their Iranian and North Korean friends.

Over 3000 dead now. I can easily see this being well over 10,000 in the end :(
Given there's nowhere to take the wounded as of yet, roads blocked, it's snowing there, I would imagine some of the wounded won't last long, a lot of old people displaced from their homes might not last long either in the freezing conditions

My god the footage is scary as ****. I felt what the locals called a "small tremor" on the Pacific coast of Mexico a few years ago and it was a very surreal experience. That looks like it would feel like the end of the world was happening. I hope they get all the help they need.

Bloody hell, the death toll is shooting through the roof. It was 2,400 when I went to bed last night, now it's >3,700!

:(

Think it's practically impossible to clear much of it quickly enough before they freeze to death sadly. Not sure how warm Turkish houses are during winter/how quickly heat dissipates through their buildings, but maybe there's enough warmth stored up hopefully?

So many buildings destroyed not enough search teams and equipment, its near impossible no doubt many will die from sheer cold :(

Kind of weird with the current situation seeing Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations planes flying into Turkey. Especially when in close proximity to NATO air force planes, etc.

Looking at the photos online, I cannot see how this will not be a 10,000+ death-toll. Such a horrific event.
Did anyone see the post a couple of days ago by an Dutch guy predicting the quake? Claims its down to planetary body related activities... Is that a pseudo-science or a real thing?!

Pseudo science. Its been known for years there has been serious stress building on one or other of the faults its been predicted for years, someone got lucky with their guess

Reminds me of Dutchsinse. Annoying thing was despite being a complete sham he did actually produce some of the most useful visualisations of ongoing activity, which no one else at least at the time when there was a lot of drama did, and there was actually something to his system despite overall being bad science - some part of it was actually producing a pattern of correct outcomes, not just broken clock being right twice a day stuff, despite a lot of bad data as well - but because of all the drama and how entities like USGS were dead set on discrediting him, etc. it has never been looked at properly as his work is just dismissed out of hand entirely (and the insistence from the science community for this subject that you can't predict it).
