I understand location has a massive impact too.
Just use a combination of sources. https://hpivaluations.com and looking on Autotrader. What’s the most reliable way to get the current value of your car for insurance purposes?
I was really surprised how big a difference mileage made to premiums. Was expecting it to just knock a few quid off but dropping the mileage reduced premium by like 15%. I'd try running some quotes for 6k miles and compare to 10k.I normally declare 10,000 miles a year but in the last few years it's more like 3-5k miles a year.
Also worth tweaking job description, can save a fair bit - obviously still needs to be relevant but if you've got something vague, you can play around.I was really surprised how big a difference mileage made to premiums. Doesn't sound all that different to insurance over here unless I'm missing something.Your insurances in the UK seems bonkers. I pay something like 60-65 pounds converted from DKK per month for my Seat Leon and is covered 25000km a year, I have 0 self pay for damages causes by others and 250 pounds converted if I am at fault(but only to my own car, others are covered with no charge to me), no matter who drives the car if something happens to them and they get disabled then they are covered, if my windows get a chip or is destroyed then its covered for free unless its the front then I have to pay the first 120 pounds myself but only if its a complete replacement and it can't be repaired. Anything can happen to it, don't matter, the insurance takes care of it, heck almighty God could decide to smite my car and its covered. The price has been the same for my old car ever since i got that and my new one only increased the price due to increase in horsepower by around 15 pounds.
Maybe I'm missing something then, but I've seen several from the UK complain about insane increases to their car insurance by like 30ish%, dunno if it's because they are driving EVs and the current blipstorm about them.Doesn't sound all that different to insurance over here unless I'm missing something.
But also a ton of us are paying 250-500 a year for "ordinary" cars.Generally speaking nearly £800 for a policy slightly below average here which includes teenagers paying thousands.
Just Eat delivery driver did a hit and run on my sisters car whilst parked up. Got him in the end via neighbours camera and contacting Just Eat.
Guess how much that damage will cost to repair.
Done properly through insurance I reckon you're looking at £3k+Just Eat delivery driver did a hit and run on my sisters car whilst parked up. Got him in the end via neighbours camera and contacting Just Eat.

My thoughts too.Done properly through insurance I reckon you're looking at £3k+
My thoughts too.
We chose to get it done via MINIs official repair center. Got a call from sis yesterday and she said the bill was £7k. New bonnet etc. Outrageous cost. I can see now why premiums are so inflated.
Good job. That's a mental price for the repair. I was expecting half that for an expensive price.
Insurance renewal came in, £650 up from £430. So we've cancelled and are going elsewhere for identical cover at £415. Told them the price and they were confused why we didn't accept their counter offer of £460...
