The BBC has warned that premiums are going up by 40% so its not surprising seeing the sort of increases listed on here https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-wales-66236110
Worryingly after reading this I thought I'd get some quotes even though I'm not due for renewal until early September, and the results are ridiculous. According to this my insurance is almost going to be 3x more when renewal comes around!
Now this is obviously insane and way more of an increase than others are seeing. The only reason I can think for this is that they are counting the fact someone crashed into my last car while it was parked and unattended against me.
It should be illegal for them to punish you for something that was impossible to have been your fault! My insurance refused to insure me after a non-fault accident, they didn't even get involved, causing mine to be a pain in the arse.
Where you park/How you park can make you more liable to be hit by someone, they'll almost certainly have data to show people that tend to have incidents like that are probably more likely to have another one in the future which is why they'll bump your premium. (They also basically have free rein to rob us so as a profit based business why wouldn't they )It should be illegal for them to punish you for something that was impossible to have been your fault!
Agreed, however I was parked in a proper bay in a residents only parking street, so this should be taken into account instead of a blanket increase without any consideration. Fair enough if someone plonked their car in a stupid place on a road somewhere!Where you park/How you park can make you more liable to be hit by someone, they'll almost certainly have data to show people that tend to have incidents like that are probably more likely to have another one in the future which is why they'll bump your premium. Just checked as mine is up next month and the E63s has gone up from £479 to £800
Inflation, crap supply chains, people forgetting how to drive after covid, nice excuse to slip some extra profit in or more likely a little bit of everything.it's terrible!!! Is it just "inflation" that's the cause of this? Absolutely crazy if it is!

Standard of driving is deffo terrible. I've seen different people champing labe with checking almost cause 3 accidents in the last week, 2 of which they almost hit me and I had to slam on.Inflation, crap supply chains, people forgetting how to drive after covid, nice excuse to slip some extra profit in or more likely a little bit of everything.
My non fault accident pushed my insurance up. The car was parked in a parking spot and I was standing in the post office. The best part was I had a phone call within 20 minutes of it happening asking did I have whip lass. I have to admit I did turn round a little quick when I heard the bang but I am not so sure that would make a valid clamAgreed, however I was parked in a proper bay in a residents only parking street, so this should be taken into account instead of a blanket increase without any consideration. You are now insured on a £10,000 car instead of a £1500 car and it went up by £10 and you think that's "disgusting behaviour"? I don't understand? We changed our Fiat 500 1.2 litre for a Kia Picanto 2 1.0 litre same power, four door instead of two, £10k instead of £1.5k, 72 plate instead of 10 plate and our insurance went up by £10. Disgusting behaviour.
I think there's a touch of sarcasm in that post. You are now insured on a £10,000 car instead of a £1500 car and it went up by £10 and you think that's "disgusting behaviour"? I don't understand?
My renewal from admiral came in at nearly £800. I only paid £500 last year. No accidents, nothing has changed. Absolutely mental increase. Called them and they had a feeble go at 'inflationary costs', didn't really have anything when I pointed out that inflation ain't at 60%!
Requoted elsewhere and got it for £400
