Massive Car insurance costs?

My insurance has gone up 15% over last year even after trying all the price comparison sites. My current insurers wanted to increase my premium from £400 - £860. I was sure that I read that insurers now have to offer you their best price on renewal and not the stupid high prices unless you threaten to leave?

I renewed all three of our cars.

Toyota Celica GT-Four £360 ish. Owned 10 years.
Saab 9-5 Aero £200 ish. Owned 8 years.
Suzuki Ignis Sport £160ish. Owned 9 years.

Live in the countryside. All policies have max NCD. I am 36 and missus 37. All were renewed around Feb/March time. Pretty much the same price as they were the previous year. Maybe length of car ownership has a big effect on cost?

People also seem to forget that values of second hand cars have gone up by quite a lot so premiums will reflect this. Even my old daily drivers have gone up magnitudes in value over the past couple of years. I paid 1900 quid for my 9-5 Aero in 2015. Cars in my condition are going for 4-5k now. There is one on Ebay in a similar spec to mine for over 6 grand for a 20 year old car!

I moved to SW London from Yorkshire last year, my insurance went from £600/yr with an Audi S5 to £2800/year just due to the postcode. As I didn't really drive much in London and only used the car for going in/out of London trips I downsized to an s3, but it's still £1600/yr with no extras. I'm 35 with 6yrs NCB and zero points, I started driving late in life. I've tried every site possible, keen to hear from any other Londonish people. Am I a unique person?
"Northallerton is the most dangerous small town in North Yorkshire, and is among the top 20 most dangerous overall out of North Yorkshire's 699 towns, villages, and cities".
North Yorkshire is also well above the national average for crime.

Mine increased from £450 last year to £640 this year. This was renewal with same provider, searches for other providers were coming in at £700-£1200. My circumstances haven't changed, same car, same house, same job etc. Car is worth slightly less. I have about 23 years no claims bonus as well.

Mine was £1150 last year and renewal came back as £1320 . Negotiated it down to £1187 in the end by pitting 2 companies against each other. My new insurance seems to have amazing customer service as well, so I'm pleased with that.

Crime hotspots? Mine is the cheapest it’s ever been, although the latest quote has increased by £20 because I forgot to add an SP30 that my misses has.

Glad it's not just me that's seen their insurance premium go up.

My Alfa Romeo Giulia went up £70 this year to £475. I think the reason for the increase is premiums have been lower in 2020 and 2021 as more people were working from home and less people were driving so fewer accidents and claims. With more people going back to work full time there's more accidents and more claims so everyone's paying a bit more.

I just checked. I'm paying £360 for the 440i F36 and £275 for the Grand Cmax. And that includes the cost of credit.
Why are so many people here being charged so much more? I'm a 34Yr old male, with 9years no claims.

Try a new quote for the 440i and see what comes out.
