Masterchef: The Professionals

there was a clue just before the show that both would go through.. the BBC2 announcer said (words along the line of..) "and six semi-finalists become 4.. its masterchef"
whereas they should have said six semifinalists become 3...

what a show and finish. loving this series to. thoroughly deserved to put them both through.

i've just been looking at the radiotimes website to see what is lined up for next week.

Monday 8.30-9.00
21/24. The three remaining chefs are asked to prove their creativity, as judges Gregg Wallace and Michel Roux Jr push them to the limits of their ability. The contestants have 1hour 45min to prepare a starter and main, and are given various cuts of beef, a whole chicken and giblets as inspiration.
Tuesday 8.00-9.00
22/24. The three finalists travel to Girona, Catalonia, where they are challenged to work in the kitchens of the three Michelin-starred El Celler de Can Roca, where they prepare dishes using local produce for the formidable Roca brothers. They are also asked to cook the restaurant's six-course tasting menu - including baby squid on mashed potato - for judges Michel Roux Jr and Gregg Wallace and a selection of regular diners.
Wednesday 8.00-9.00
23/24. The three finalists face their penultimate challenge, cooking three courses consisting of one dish each for 10 chefs - all of whom have at least two Michelin stars. They will have to believe in the food they designed and execute their timing flawlessly if they are to impress some of Europe's cooking elite with their mentors Michel Roux Jr and Gregg Wallace looking on.
Thursday 8.00-9.00
24/24. The three finalists face their last challenge as they prepare a three-course menu for Gregg Wallace and Michel Roux Jr. The judges assess the hopefuls' efforts before deciding who is the winner of the 2011 competition and succeeds past champions Derek Johnstone, Steve Groves and Claire Lara. Last in the series.

easy. :D

Loving this series, much more so than the normally excellent masterchef!

Claire has lovely eyes, pity that the rest of her is an 8pinter :D

Omg sexist!

Wow Steve is a whiny little bitch. 'my sorbet's not set I might as well go home now wah wah'.

Not really. She's the more talented and creative of the two, I don't think there is much between them in terms of cooking but Claire will improve and achieve a higher level (imho)

Steve just came across as very childish and petty or a "whiny little bitch" at that too. I understand it, but it's the wrong attitude to have, I thought Roux Jr handled it well.

She does! I don't think the rest of her is bad at all either, but her eyes are amazing.

Steve didn't come across very well when he had his meltdown. However, he did seem more excited and relieved about the outcome of the dish than Claire.

Claire would be attractive if she got rid of her stupid protuding lips.

Far too much French in it, but it was fantastic. I have only ever really watched Ramsay and Oliver so it's interesting to see someone really into the fine-dining classics.

While Ramsay is a really good chef, and I do enjoy watching him "cook" not tell people what to do. Michel Roux Jr is one of my favourite chefs, He's just an amazing chef, certainly in terms of the classics and modern classics, a mile away from Oliver.

I also like Oliver, his 30 minute cook book is brilliant.

Just caught up with the episode from Thursday - wow. Thought Ash was going to walk it but those two are seriously good. And I would love Claire to cook for me!

Ash is the most competent chef of the three, Claire is the most creative and Steve sits somewhere between the two. Oli... well, I've got a feeling skilful editing has been keeping his talents under wraps, but I don't class him as one of the front-runners.

Out of the three we all seem to favour, Claire is the one who could benefit the most from the title - that young, that talented, female and a Masterchef winner? Every door should be open to her from here on in.

And speaking of doors, I wonder which one of the quartet will be heading out of the Exit later tonight? Common-sense says it ought to be Oli, but if one of the others mucks up in a bad way we could see them falling at the first hurdle.

But I'd really like to see a week's worth of challenges with Ash, Claire and Steve being pushed to their culinary limits and beyond. One of those three will be featuring in The Guide before too long.

My guess would also be on Olly to leave - however, I feel we're all falling right into the editorial trap as his food last round was faultless - MRJr and Custom-sized spoon Wallace were absolutely beaning over his efforts and this appeared to come out of nowhere for me.

I think the editing team like a pretty face or distinguishing feature and so have piled the airtime on Claire and Steve. I would argue from what we've seen so far that Ash is the most skilled chef and his food speaks for itself.

However the outcome - it's good to see four very talented people facing off against each other opposed to having to pick the best of the remainders to go through.

I'm still not fully sold on Olly but I would happily say either of the other three have already done more than previous winners.

Have been watching this religiously all series, really loving it. It'd be great for Claire to win but wouldn't mind if Ash did either. Given that all the cooking is now massively impressive, I feel a bit bad trying to choose between them... :D

Will be catching up with the first final on iPlayer later!
