Matched betting - who's done it and who's good at it? (No Referrals)

Sometimes they do. I find after about 2 months of inactivity with them they'll throw a £10 pound free bet your way. Once all the sign up offers have dried up (which I made about £700 from inc cash back etc), I've found I'm dribbling in about £40 a month after that.

I stay away from the complicated acculmulator style free bets - way to easy to make a mistake and not qualify for the free bet - although they do offer massive returns if you do it correctly.

Cool, are there any particular ones?

I don't want to open too many accounts while I'm starting out, just keep it simple for now

personally if you're going to do a whole bunch of these offers then I'd just take the risk and not bother with the lay bet on betfair... forget the 'matched' bet and increase your expectation... yup the variance increases but it has a greater EV as you avoid paying up to cross the spread and/or pay commission at the exchange too

???

Matched betting doesn't work if you don't place the lay bet - else you risk losing the original stake and the "free" stake and coming out with nothing.

tried to find the casino bonus thread from years ago but can't :(

several of us made over £250k between us , I made £13-14k

Wouldn't mind getting some more info on this. I think anyone and everyone could do with a nice cash injection like that! Set me up to get myself on the housing ladder for sure!

I do matched betting. I have made over £800 in 14 months. AFAIK bonus bagging is now pretty much completely dead.
I have no flipping idea how people made £1000s from matched betting (unless it was in the past when rules were less strict).
I am signed up with most (not all) major UK bookies and rarely get offers worth having*.
I always cover my free bet as then I am guaranteed to make a small profit from my time each time I do it:).

I'm all ears though if anyone wishes to give me pointers! (Please do!).
Either way, great to see the thread still going :).

*I don't bother with the 10% back or free bet if horse falls nonsense. Too little return for the effort.

thus greater variance

tis still a +EV proposition and with a higher expected return than 'matched betting'

But no guarantee.

You're just proposing gambling as a way to generate profit - i.e. a mugs game. The beauty of matched betting is that it's not really gambling at all.

william hill are a nightmare...

done about 5 offers that went smoothly with other sites and now this...

tried to withdraw some winnings from william hill and ARGHHH

1/. Valid I.D
2/. Paypal proof of ownership
3/. Front and Back copies of card ending in 1111

Sorry to resurrect, but how can any legitimate UK business ask for FULL front and back copies of any debit/credit card? With card number and expiry on front and CVV on back thats pretty much all you need to commit fraud?

You blank out the middle 8 numbers of the card.

And you set up a password with "verfied by Visa" for online purchases.

Wow, old thread revival. Anyone getting into this right now, just hang on a couple of weeks, Cheltmas starts on the 10th March, bookies up their offers for the festival.

To be honest though you have missed the boat as new Government legislation has made this a much more difficult game to make quick money from. I still reckon with a decent float you can make £2k in a month or two but the days of £50k+ (e.g. Donglemouse) from this are long gone.

long since gone unfortunately, the offers were fantastic but they shut them down ages ago

nope, but you're rather unlikely not to have one in the long run

are terms like 'increased variance' and 'positive expectation' confusing you?

Not at all, I know perfectly well what they mean, and have seen many a punter suckered into following the path you're suggesting.

As I said before, it's gambling, and it's a mugs game.

I never paid any attention to this thread before but had a good read yesterday and I've got my first bet set up through fix the odds so we'll see how I get on! I only need a few extra quid not looking for thousands.

Why do you think it is a mugs game? Especially as we're just talking about +EV bets and increasing your expected returns....

Are casino owners playing a 'mugs game'?

Are you sure you understand, you seem to be labelling 'gambling' as a whole a mugs game...do you include say bookies or professional poker players in that?
