Mattresses - I need knowledge

Yeah we looked at a number of places and the decision came down to the look of the bed / headboard (which is quite large) and the colours to fit in with the room.

The fact is was one of the more reasonably priced options was a pleasant and unusual bonus :D

What topper do you have?

Been thinking about replacing ours next year, it’s not super old, maybe 5 years. Wasn’t a particularly high end one though and I find it feels very hot and it’s got dips in it now too.

We are in a similar situation, our mattress is about 6/7 years old now (IKEA Hamarvik). Wife is pregnant and finds sleeping quite uncomfortable, and I wanted a topper that is cooler, so have ordered a latex foam 3" topper. Should arrive tomorrow!

Which latex topper did you get? I was thinking of getting one and had my eye on this.

I bought it from a company on eBay (lovemihome), it is a 3" latex foam topper. It arrived this morning and is very comfortable. I believe it is a Dunlop type topper like the one you have quoted so should last quite a while. Very comfortable!

Recently ordered the bed {SAS}TB linked to, in Grey (Thanks again). Together with a Emma Premium (super king) mattress and new duvet, pillows, sheets from Soak and Sleep.

Now the patient wait for it all to arrive.

What are the delivery times like with Emma from date of order. 1 week?

OK. As expected mattresses have come down in BF. We originally tested an Emma mattress in Furniture Village and liked it, however I have friends who have Eve's who also really rate them. The Eve's were priced substantially more than the Emma's but now Eve have come down for BF sales there is only a £50 difference between the two in super king.

From all of the comparisons I can see online they rate the Eve higher because it has more full size pocket springs, has more foam layers and is slightly deeper (probably due to more foam layers).
We have a Which subscription and they rate Eve as their number one mattress but just wondering if anyone else here has an Eve or an Emma and can chime in with their thoughts on them? I know Eve recently went into admin but they are back up and running now they were bought so i'm not too concerned about that side of things.

In other news the Dusk Ottoman Bed we wanted has just had another 20% taken off it today so have popped an order in for that!

Does the storage in that bed have a solid base?

No, it has a Velcro on material base

I went for this one recently, https://www.argos.co.uk/product/3064177?clickSR=slp:term:habitat pandora:1:4815:1

really pleased with it, but also has velcro/cloth bottom... I personally don't think it matters as I have carpet in the bedroom so i'd have to empty the storage to make it light enough to move the bed if I want to. I suppose if you have hardwood floors you could slide the bed around to re-position without emptying the storage if it has a solid base, but not really a consideration for me.

Thanks, that seems to be pretty standard on these storage beds.

Interesting, what did you do? Cut some plywood / mdf to fit?

As it is not on display I used 2 sheets of 12mm OSB + a few lengths of 65mm x 35mm and 2 packs of these Wheels

Framed the bed with the 65mm x 35mm and then added a length down the centre both ways.

Screwed the OSB down to the baton, did top, but could be fitted under and added the wheels.

Now the bed can be moved with ease and no need to remove all the stored gear in it.
