Mattresses - I need knowledge

We have a JR Artisans Luxury for us and the Origins Pocket 1500 for my son, very good value for money, I think they punch above their weight for sure.

Going to be buying a new bed frame and mattress (superking) once we've moved house this month and wondered if anyone had experience with the likes of Eve (https://www.evemattress.co.uk/), Casper (https://casper.com/uk/en) or Simba (https://simbasleep.com/)?

They all come with a 100 night money back guarantee and are roughly the same price. Some of them also look to be made of a very similar set of materials so not sure how unique they are.

We've got a Simba and my partner and I both really like it. We're on our second one as the first one had a manufacturing fault where one side was noticably lower than the other but they swapped it out without any grumbles.

I'm not a particularly good sleeper but I am sleeping better since we got the Simba. It's comfortable yet firm.

Edit - I've also got a Casper pillow. It's ok, nothing special and not worth £60. I got mine for £30 which is still a bit expensive.

Just a further note on John Ryan customer service. I am going to be moving house in Feb so wanted to make sure to buy something to protect my mastress that I purchased last year... Had a quick look on Amazon and ebay but wasnt sure if the 'matress moving protectors' would have the required depth for the mattress I have. Dropped a quick email to John Ryan asking what they recommend and they got back to me in 5 minutes asking for my address so they could send me some protectors free of charge. Pretty awesome service really.

Just ordered a Hypnos Clarence Supreme from the local furniture shop. Super king zip and link. It was a medium but the softest most luxurious feeling medium I tried. Can't wait!

We tried some memory foam ones but we're squirmers and they just felt nasty to me.

And I don't get people that like firm mattresses, at all. Unless you're extremely fat or have a specific problem that dictates a firm mattress, then why would you want to feel like you're sleeping on a prison / hospital bed?

Just got the Ergoflex as an "upgrade" to the current one we had.

Don't. Really uncomfortable - Both Mrs and I (she's 6 stones, I'm 16~17) - Find that after 2~3 hours of lying on left hand side the shoulder hurts. Then go to right hand side... Then have to lie on back on front as shoulders hurt too much!

Ergoflex used to be good, their current range are crap :(

Going back to the 5~6 year old previous one... Whoch was perfect for 5 years - just can't remember the make right now. Was £100 cheaper than Ergoflex too!

Stupid question but is it upside down? I had the same issue with one of 5 but it was upside down.

So I am returning my John Ryan mattress (went for origins 1500) as its giving both me and the Mrs back pain.
Love the look, feel and quality of it but just hurting out backs! Even with a mattress topper.

Any alternatives worth considering?

My missus had back pain due to standing all day, due to her job. We had a John Ryan and I have to be fair, it is fantastic, it feels great, and was good value. Her back pain was not so often after that, and not so intense, but still there.

After moving house we went for a waterbed. It might not "feel" as comfy as the John Ryan, but in terms of feeling rested it is the best thing ever.

I know what you might say, "What about the floating?". You can get (that's what we have) a motionless mattress. Ours is 2 mattresses (to limit movement from one side to other) that are both Super Motionless. They come to a complete stop after punching them in 0.5s. That plus the fact that they are heated, means no more pain.

They are not very expensive. Ours is a superking, with 2 matresses and 2 heaters plus a headboard for £1200, including installation. After that, once a year you put conditioner (£10) in it and maybe 2-4 times a years to bleed it from any air.

On the basis of advice from the forum we went to JohnRyan By Design and we are so pleased. We went to Dreams tried a few beds and the mattresses we liked were very expensive and too much bull poo techno-nonsense. The JohnRyan website was excellent great advice we ordered, they rung up to say our combination of mattress and topper was unnecessary so we cancelled the topper and it has been so comfortable I am sleeping really well. I think we went for a Artisan naturals Super King. Loving the extra space, we used to wake each other up a lot in the night moving around or elbow in the sides type thing. None of that anymore.

Premium brand Pocket Spring with no memory foam - best mattress I've ever slept on and I've stayed in 4-5 start hotels all around the world as well as various peoples houses.

I went for a firm one too.

The Simba is going back. Over the last couple of weeks my partner has been waking up with a sore hip. A shame as I found it great but it's no good if she's waking up in pain.

Back to the drawing board.

Any recommendations for a single mattress for my sister?

she is around 8st, currently has wooden slats bed and has budget of around £300 max.

So many it's hard to know which ones to go for a lot of them are misleading when claiming to be something.
