Max's Training Log - 2014

I just find that using my 5rm for 5 sets isn't possible. I'd have to use slightly lower weight which then defeats the purpose. Just can't hit the volume at 5rm sets.

Hasn't held me back :p

Only thing I think I can really do this sort of intensity is deadlifts. It's horrid, but the gainz are awesome.

Tried it with front squats (75% for 12 reps is not fun), and lasted for six weeks... then died. :D
 
Another good session on 10s tonight, focused on keeping tight whilst benching, seemed to feel a bit better.

Looking over last years Strongman events, I got a 60kg OHP, will give that another go whilst on these poverty calories, I think I can at least match it.

If not, I'm not sure what to think of the years progress :p :o :(

Over ate a bit this weekend with the Strongman etc, just shows if I overstep it even slightly I really pay the price!

I still really want to hit 85kg but as ever I'm in that yo-yo position of what to do.

For those who came to the Strongman and saw my current appearance, would you advise to continue to 85kg or stop now and try put on some mass carefully?
 
I thought you looked in great shape. If it's making you miserable trying to drop much more and if you're not doing as much HIIT then it's just going to really make you unhappy. I'd give it a rest for a month or so, stop monitoring too closely, allow yourself to build a little muscle and re-assess. :)

This really, I thought you were looking in good shape but at the end of the day there's no point in pushing on with something that's making you unhappy it'll just make it more difficult and you'll start to resent loosen up a little bit for 4 weeks or so then come back and see where you are.
You'll probably find it'll do you the world of good.

It doesn't help when I get surrounded by you hench kermits :p

Training went really well today with the added food, guess that says a lot.

Going to relax and enjoy my week away but not go over board, come back and give the cut once last push.

Also an element of trying to chase a physique that isn't obtainable given my history.

Might look like a deflated balloon again but I will see how it goes, then do a very steady and controlled reverse.

Know these feels brah. After trying before and getting what I would consider very light (73/74kg) I still didn't look any appreciably lower BF wise because of loose skin etc. I think I'll never be shredded or even look like a normal 12% because of that, so why bother. If/when I REALLY want that I'm pretty sure I'll need both juice and a tummy tuck.

EDIT: What app creates that weight tracking graph thingy? Sort of want.

Not happy with how I look really, lacking mass and my lifts suck big time.

This would indicate to stop cutting!

Yeah I think cutting further will result in further skinny fat look.

I just seem to change my mind a lot that's all :p
 
Coming from a previous "Heavyweight" lol your graph seems nice and stable, I easily jump around 4-5lbs during the week!

Ah I had mine before I brought my place lol, I was still young so wasn't even thinking of a house so was Lucky. Still best thing I ever did !
 
Back from the holiday/deload last week.

Put on an impressive 4kg :p but its coming off at a rate of knots already which is nice.

Around 90kg at the moment, but with that boost in calories coming back down to 2100 my training seems to be responding well. Was perhaps in a deficit for too long and needed a little dose of extra food to get the ball rolling again!

Training today compound wise:

HST 5s Week 1

Bench 77.5kg 5,5
Squat 90kg 5,5
OHP 50kg 5,5
Barbell Row 60kg 5,5

All reps hit including the accessory work, feels good :D

Will just continue next weeks 5s and see where my weight is.
 
Nearly all the 4kg came off this week which is good, currently at 89.3

Training today in a nutshell:

Squats 92.5kg 5/5
Deads 145kg 5/5
Bench 80kg 5/5
OHP 51.5kg 5/5

Pretty pleased with that considering the calories and little prowler session yesterday :o

Still umming and arring but who cares!
 
88.2 kg this morning which is a new low :o

Today it was:

Squats 95kg 5/5
Barbell Row 65kg 5/5
Bench 82.5kg 5/5 (last rep was a grinder but got it)
OHP 55kg 5/5

Squats feel so good at the moment, as do front squats.

See how things pan out but I am back on StrongLifts on Monday :D (possibly 3x5 whilst im cutting still).
