Just more tactics to try and show he doesn't care if he fights or not.
That's my guess too.. Mayweather is as smart out the ring as he is in of the ring.
All towards going for a bigger split.

Heres a heart warming read... Just goes to show, he's not a complete ass. Actually other than when he's hyping up his fights, he's quite decent..(considering his early background) And he's always respectful of the other fighters after the fight.
Bit greedy though. I can't imagine it makes much difference to his bank balance if he gets $10 million less for example.![]()
Take a year or two off, wait for Many to retire or become a politician...
I wouldn't want to fight Pacquiao if I was Mayweather, as soon as he loses a fight he will have to fight some very dangerous fighters to get paid the same money.
The chances of Mayweather losing are slim. He is just too good.
I realise that there are many people who don't like his attitude and want to see him lose, but sometimes you have to be realistic in life and accept when a sportsman is the best at what he does...irrespective of your own personal dislike for him.
Mayweather is just too good.
Before the Hatton fight, I'd never seen him fight, but after that match, I read up on him and it would appear that he is the real deal and has one heck of a boxing pedigree.
I honestly can't see Mayweather getting beaten, unless something out of the ordinary happens.
Thats what I'm saying, a loss to Manny (and he would more than likely lose that fight) and he would have to fight the likes of Paul Williams and Miguel Cotto to get the mega pay days. Fights I cant see Floyd Maywather taking as he will have to take a lot of punishment to win.
Mayweather has not been in the ring with a fighter as good as Manny Pacquiao and thats one of the main reasons he has an undefeated record. Another is as he has aged he has moved up weight / retired and missed the opportunity to fight some very good fighters.
Even if we allow that Mayweather loses the fight (and I'm far from accepting that as a likely consequence) then what incentive is there to fight again unless for a rematch? He doesn't need the money, he's already beaten the best the division has to offer, it's only his legacy that could be in danger and he's not going to be able to shake off a defeat except by beating the man who beat him.
Mayweather has scarcely appeared to take any punishment in any fight so far, maybe the two you mention will be different but maybe not. It's all very much hypothetical though - Mayweather vs Pacquiao is the fight being talked about, what happens after that is only really worth thinking about when the fight is done as up to that point either fighter has beaten pretty much everyone of note in their division.
And Pacquiao hasn't been in the ring with a fighter as good as Mayweather, see how this goes? Until and unless we see the fight it is difficult to say with any degree of certainty who is the better fighter - you can say whose style you prefer but that's about it without it being merely a best guess approach.
