McDonald’s general discussion

Those aren’t the only options. McDonald’s is supposed fast food so one should receive their order very quickly and it’s quite possible to get hot fresh food very quickly when they are operating correctly.

Whilst foods are kept in the chutes each individual product has their own timer on ranging from a few mins up to I think 22 minutes so they aren’t kept long in the hot holds.
True, but the franchisees want to minimise wastage and at quieter times they don't want to be binning hundreds of pounds of food weekly so will cook to order.

That's one thing I've never understood..McDonalds food is utterly rubbish if it's not fresh and hot, and it gets cold fast... why would anyone buy a McD's via deliveroo/just eat etc?

The fries in particular just need to go straight in the compost bin if they are not hot and fresh...
If a Maccies has been recently made but gone a bit cold, a quick blast in the micro sorts it out, tastes exactly the same as a freshly made hot one. The fries air fry very well also

How much do you invoice back to McDonald's to finish off their job?
It’s not always their fault Bud, most of the time it’s the soppy drivers doing either 2-3 deliveries at once, getting lost or sitting their on their phones while your foods getting cold in the bag.

And for me, it’s no different to other places. For example, if I get an Indian delivered and the naan breads a bit cold, I don’t get straight on the phone whinging, I just stick it in the oven for a few mins. Too many people expect constant perfection from places that sell cheap food xx

It's no longer particularly cheap nevermind which takeaway/fast food place you frequent.

Maybe, but even so, people who expect services like Uber or JE to get it right all the time, live in cuckoo land. Theres always gonna be mistakes, it’s the nature of the business

What ever way you look at it, when you are paying someone else to make it for you on their premises and paying someone else to bring it to you, it IS cheap.

We’re in the age of ‘big data’. Surely they can analyse their most popular items and busiest times and do a degree of prediction to reduce the overall wait times?

And that’s fine too but do you know how long it takes them to cook a burger? Answer should be given in seconds!

No problem with them cooking to order as it doesn’t take any longer in reality than them walking to the chute!

They can do it well we know that. It’s just they don’t.

They do.

None of these issues are about their cooking times or hot holding times. It’s just poor management.

Yes, they did that when I worked there 20 years ago.

There is a production chart that gets refreshed every week based on that individual locations sales trends.

The chart gets stuck on every station and projects how much you need to keep ready for every hour of every day.

It even covers how many tubes of say Big Mac sauce they need to get out the fridge each day.

What can’t be helped is if someone 35 seconds before you orders 5 of the thing you want or the staff simply don’t follow it.

It's probably even worse now due to deliveroo and the likes which can be rather random in terms of orders and could even throw a spanner into the works by a party order of 5-10 burgers all at once.

I can only imagine the app ordering and delivery can throw some large spanner’s in the works these days.

‘Back in the day’ everyone had to order at the till in person and you got to know who your regulars were and what they ordered to the point you’d have it ready before they got to the till.

There used to be 2 yanks that came in all the time and they’d both order 20 nuggets and a burger meal each. Outside of a busy Saturday lunchtime you’d never have 40 nuggets on the go on top of the usual 4 nugget happy meal orders etc. but you’d spot them when they parked in the car park or walked through the door and you’d have an extra bag of nuggets a in the frier before they’d got to the till.

Now it’s all faceless, you can’t really do that at all.

It pains be to be another “air fryer guy” but Maccy D fries, nuggets, anything like that come out of an air fryer blessed after 2-3 mins

On JE at the moment, there’s a deal called feed the family, you get 4 burgers and fries delivered for £15. That breaks down to £3.75 to have a Big Mac and fries delivered to your door. Anyone who thinks that isn’t cheap in the day and age is mental

That is cheap, the standard McDonald's delivery prices aren't particularly though at least in my opinion.

If it’s the same deal as on Deliveroo then it’s two premium burgers (qpwc, bm etc) and medium fries with two cheeseburgers and small fries. So not such a good deal as you describe.

Anyone else been hit by the scrolling bug on the app? Reports all over the App Store for months but it hasn’t been fixed yet.
