Mclaren-Honda MP4-30 *** 2015 Launch Thread

McLaren's social media dude also followed up Ron's colour theme sponsor change with the question of orange or white & red. They know nothing more than we do.

Until a title sponsor is found, the livery will not change. I'm almost as bored of saying it as McLaren are boring.

By what Ron said the other day they wont be getting a "title" sponsor because the cash isnt available any more/ F1 has become too expensive

sounds like the car will have more smaller branding instead

This makes no logical sense at all. Have you got a source for this?

The money is absolutely available - companies want to advertise, world-wide and will pay A LOT of money for that privilege.

McLaren have a great marketing team - the one time those men with grey hair and grey suits come in handy. They will have no problems finding sponsors.

It was part of a pile of crap that Ron spouted about how title sponsors need to pay over 60% of a teams budget or something. He's basically saying he will paint the car a different colour for £200m!

It has the feeling of some massive political battle and the F1 team is just being used as a pawn. The drivers decision, the wtf livery, the random rants about sponsors. Ron genuinely sounds like he's losing it.

Yeah, he was basically saying because a title sponsor was giving them say 70mil of their 130mil budget, because their budget is 200mil today they want 110mil from a title sponsor now and no one is willing to spend that much.... he was saying it like 70mil wasn't worth it any more. Ron was just talking crap, again.

They don't really need it. They were still one if the top financed teams last year without the sponsor.
Imagine what they could spend with one though.

Ultimately that is the thing isn't it, 30, 50, 70 or 150million is still a LOT of money. Either they can spend more, or simply make more profit, I fail to think of a single situation in which you'd refuse to take money because you would either not want to spend more or hate the idea of making a profit.... something most rich people aren't well known for.
