Mechwarrior Online. Yes, really :)

I know it's early days, but so far I have to confess a slight case of regret that I bought the top Founders package without having played the game first.

I'm a big fan of the Mechwarrior series and really thought that MWO would blow me away, but so far it just hasn't been as much fun as I'd hoped.

It's still very early days though; I can see that the game has potential, I just hope that as it becomes more polished something "clicks" and it offers the experience that I'm looking for.

Glad its not just me with buyers remorse. I can take comfort in not opting for the top founders pack but still feel pretty bad about it regardless.

I just cant put my finger on it but MWO is deffinately lacking something.

Probably just lacks nostalgia. I bet if you installed the original mech games you would find them lacking.

I used to find a rattle great when I was a baby. I bet if I played it now it wouldn't be as fun. Same principle.

I know I started the thread but I just completely lost interest when I found out it was just another lobby shooter. Other than the fancy graphics it was exactly like playing any of the MW games from the last century.

Hmm damn that's dissappointing. What was the last mechwarrior (or similar) game of modern times... was it Mechwarrior 4?

Open Beta will be coming soon, for those on the fence you'll have a chance to try it out. I still like it, and I think once you start grinding the cash together and see some more diversity in the mechs out there (I'm seeing some epic beasts coming the other way in matches now after so long without a reset), it might be more interesting. There's still plenty more functionality to come so I'm waiting to see what the finished product turns out like.

Well, its not fully strategic right now, but you can easily see in games teams with coordination generally do better than thier mech caliber might suggest :)

I just find the game missing atmosphere. Where are the warning alarms when you get hit? The Computer voice saying critical hit, etc? Music? Loud explosions? It's also using the cryengine but you walk through trees and can't destroy anything in the landscape!

I'm hoping its just the beta, but given they are in beta I would have thought speech and sound would already be present.

Found someone who posted a video with added voices which explains part of what I thought was odd when I tried it. The voices add atmosphere!

Arghh 7 games in a row where someone disconnects at startup and the game won't replace with a new person and another is afk, every single time like clockwork.

It really wants me to not like this, but I like the game! :P Hopefully they see that's an important part of the game, oh wait... I see what they're doing, farming points afk :/ (some just spin in circles)

Lol, people afk'ing in beta? That didnt take long....

My experience so far?, be put with new players against pre made founder teams..., Love Mechwarrior but I'm staying away from this until they sort out match making. Founder mechs against trial ones, pay to win if I ever seen it, but then to allow pre made teams in match making against solo players is a joke really, damn shame.

tbh it's a team game, get a team?

No, you can't force or expect people to play in a premade team, the nature of drop-in tdm games have for the most part been in that spirit.
However, I started playing in teams the last two days and it's like fighting against children, it's too easy now.

Good thing is I believe they're adding a match-making system to spread apart pubbies and premades.

I'm getting really good at the game, I started playing as a heavy mech first with all the firepower but then I tried out my least favorite type, fast and sneaky and now I can't stop playing them! :)

However one thing I don't understand is my own damage, I see my mech body bottom left and if something is destroyed it fades, but sometimes they flash different shades of yellow/orange/red and sometimes they stop after a while and I'm never sure when I'm about to die, although it's rarely happened.

Once I got killed in an openeing volley by someone, I have a CASE around my ammo too, other times I seem to take hits like a lil' champ!

it's which area is damaged/overheating etc

I've got really into the heavy role, working with a team (as a team!) with voice comms and it makes it a whole different game!
