Keep an eye on those French. If you have Rennes, Bruges, Antwerp, Bordeaux or a combination thereof, expect an attack.

If you can beat them down, and nick a few of their cities they wont cause you any trouble. You might even get lucky and have half of them squashed by Milan.

I am currently in control of the entire UK, Rennes, Caen, Bruges, Antwerp, Bordeaux, Angers, and Rheims. Toulouse is next once I get an army there and that will be the end of the French. Oslo is next on the horizon as it is still under Rebel control.

Had a great battle today to get Caernarvon back after they revolted. Sent in an army and laid seige and left it for a while, then the Rebel sallied forth and battle commenced... that was when I remember my army consisted of General bodyguard, 2 units of Hobilars and 2 units of Mailed Knights. They had 4 squads of spearmen and a longbowmen squad and a small General bodyguard..

I took out their general in the first cavalry charge and the Rebels routed :p

Finally got on top of my money. Basically I was queuing up loads of buildings and units in every city and basically left me with no money. Cleared all the queues and now I just build one building at a time and I have stopped building military units.

At the rate I am going I should have enough money to start up my war machine again at a moments notice :D

Thanks for the tip buddy. I haven't had any problems with the French yet.....i'll keep waiting for that though. At the moment im just using them as a buffer between the rest of Europe.

The scots however are proving rather tough. I've got two armies at the moment each with about 500 men each and struggling to wipe them out but I think i'll be able to do it within the next 15 turns or so.

Really excellent game though.
 
anyone tried taking on the mogals then ? i could not believe it when i saw the army they had, there is only part of hungarian territory and a alliance that i cant see lasting between them and me, and i have spain, the hre and denmark taking random pot shots at my territory.

and then i have my game seemingly getting slower and slower, the larger cities arnt helping and neither is the fact i am constantly seigeing or defending cities, i tried disabling bloom but the game looks so rubbish without that :(, anyone got any performance tips ? gonna try disabling shadows, but trying to avoid losing very high land and unit textures as when i am in land based battles the game is fine.
 
Great way of winning battles is during deployment move cavalry as far forward and to the sides as possible. When the battle starts move these units around the back of the enemy army. Make sure they stay really far away from the enemy or they will get noticed.

If you get the cavalry around the back, charge into them! If you can hit the general's bodyguard from behind you have a very good chance of causing half their army to route!

I did this while fighting France and again against Milan, they outnumbered me 2-1 almost, but I still managed to beat them. Routed a big chunks of their armies and at the end of the battles I had captured a lot of men. I slaughtered them all! [First two screenies below]

That's another thing, don't bother with releasing or ransoms as it just puts them back in the field.

Had another great battle with Milan over Paris. I had a 900 strong full stack army and a smaller 400 strong army both seiging the city. I decided to assault and gave AI control to the reinforcements [900 man army]. Fun watching the AI break down the gates then send all 900 men into the city :p

Me vs France - A defeat... but an epic defeat! I was so close to beating them but unfortunately I ran out of units capable of decent melee fighting and what was left of their forces managed to route my remaining tatters. Still, leaving them with just a third of their army isn't bad.

just got my ass well and truely handed to me by the mongals, they attacked one of my forts on my eastern front, the first wave i owned alltogether, they tried to storm my castle and i just mowed them down, it all seemed too easy.

the second lot that came had no seige equipment, so they just sat in range of my archers but i wasnt even making a dint in the army, so after running out of arrows nearly i kept sending the odd man out to try and draw some towards the archers, but the army was 80% archers and horse archers and they just mowed them down, so then i tried charging them, even less sucessful, ended up just ending battle and letting them take the castle, well frustrating really :s, dont know what i actully could have done there to avoid that, especially as when the horses got in range they did that running round while shooting thing which made them even harder targets.

any suggestions for that ? because there after me big style now
 
Oh god.. I'm scared of these Mongols now. I have lots of siege and artillery equipment which will probably get me by one battle, but if they keep coming...

What is going to happen if you get excommunicated by the pope. The pope is pretty much a living ***** really, old no swearing hiding in his church acting big.
 
Your settlements law and order will drop quite a lot, which means you'll have to reinforce them to stop revolts that inturn lowers your income. Also theres a much higher chance that the catholic factions will take a pop at you, which could be nasty if you have a lot of them surrounding you. And then theres the crusades that can be called against you if you annoy the catholic factions too much.

But after awhile you'll get back into the catholic "club" and all will be alright again. :p
 
Ye noticed that, I see red smileys in 2 of my cities like after i got exco. The thing that ****** me off is, Im getting gang banged a lot by milan and france omg

Crusade finally made it to Jerusalem yesterday - two units of retinue longbowmen deserted as we sailed past Gibraltar though - buggers!
 
Things aren't going well anymore!

I captured Paris this morning after Milan wanted a scrap. We signed a ceasefire and it has held so far. Then the Danish had a barny and nicked Antwerp. Got it back and I retaliated by nicking Hamburg and erm... the one north of Hamburg.

Unfortunately I just lost a half stack in a battle with a Danish Army. I should have retreated really but I got cocky. Although I had the larger army 2 units were artillery. They also had LOTS of Huscarls [sp?] and they just decimated my army :(

Currently have a full stack heading that way but Spain have decided to attack and nicked Bordeaux! I have lots of units in England but the Danish have ships every where taking out my fleets. I swear theres a bug in the sea battles because it doesnt matter if I outnumber their fleet I ALWAYS lose.

I am trying to get a truce with Spain because I can't fight them and the Danes. Things aren't going well :p

Lol mate, Im struggling in paris area region too. Those milan pricks ARE ANNOYING. I destroyed the scottish, france and halfway thro milan.

Does any of you know about this gay ass plague that basically wiping out my citizens and army?
 
It is the Black Death and it is currently sweeping through my empire. It has killed about 20,000 people so far and my income has plummeted. I am about 10K in the red :(

Still, only one city left before Denmark are a distant memory. Once they are out of the way I am going to be having words with Spain. Going for the domination win here and I am half way there. Going to nick the whole of mainland Spain after I have sorted the Danes.

Milan keep demanding Paris or they will go to war... so far they haven't carried out their threat. I have a full stack full of feudal knights, dismounted english knights, cannons and spearmen. I think they have been scrapping with the HRE as Milan appears to only have a few cities left. Might consider pinching a few of them before going after Spain. However, until I have my money back where I need it all my war plans are on hold.

Lmao, that plague basically halved my income, kinda ****** !!!!!! im going for milan, i will leave the spanish at the bottom doing their stuff with portugal
 
Lol, portugal a bit annoying tho. They took bordeaux off me but don't got the balls to come up angers and hit me, i will eliminate them as soon as i get rid of milan pricks
