How do you get the 120 man units ? mine are all like 60 lol, someone please tell me :)

In the game options you can select the size of your squads, small, medium or large I think. Don't forget to turn of restricted camera in there also!

I'm doing -3000 or so florin every turn, I can't seem to stop it! I'm at god damn -20,000 and going lower - it's a joke! Anyone know how I can sort it out?

yay things are looking up on my English campaign.

Spain was excummated or whatever, and then I suggested to the pope that he called a crusade on leon (Spains capital) and he agree'd.

Ive been churning out units left right and centre from my castles in france and am moving forward and replenishing my units within the next turn usually, just need to figure out a grand plan to take care of the remining French, the Spanish and now the Danes.

Hmm, managed to sort my debt problems by basically disbanding half of my army... Was the only way. But well, who needs armies when you can rout their armies!

Just won a crusade also, the rewards were immense!!! Check this out:

Wow! I got money taken off me and - 15 units get an experience bonus (? No idea what that means). Oh i'm glad I joined that crusade.

Edit : Err, just realised those arn't minus signs but a kind of bullet point . I'll go hide for a bit.

I've been playing for about 8hours straight, give me a break! :D :p

Tried 3 different campaigns, Milan, Rome and Denmark. Milan and Rome are so hard it's insane. Denmark is alright, still difficult compared to English though.

I have to say, i'm a bit disappointed in this game so far. Nearly all of the AI bugs that was in Rome: Total War are still there. A few examples : -

- French army attacks one of my towns, one of their spies opened my gates to them. So what do they do? Send unit after unit of spear men up ladders into my heavy infantry, then when all their infantry was dead (apart from 30 that were routing, but the whole unit got stuck ontop of one of the ladders) they send their cavalry on a headlong charge through the gates into my spear men.

- I'm half way through the campaign and I havn't been outflanked *once* by cavalry, i've even left my flanks wide open a few times against cavalry heavy armies just to see what would happen.

- 2 seperate armies attack my town, the main force fully attack from one side, while the other army sits outside the walls at the other end of the town until my towers kill every single one of them, without them moving or routing.

I seriously hope they fix these silly issues, i've probably poured thousands of hours into the Total War series over the years so this one won't be any different. Its just annoying when what seems like a really good battle is spoiled by buggy AI.

I keep having problems with battles on walls etc. I send a squad of my men up their walls into some of their archers. I expected my heavy guys to chew through those archers like paper! My heavies sit right back and send 1 bloke in at a time whilst all the archers shoot down the wall into my heavies, couldn't fricking beleive it.

Perhaps a silly question, but how the hell do you get archers to place stakes in front of them, or get horse archers to do their special formation?

The stakes is only do-able when you're setting your men out at the start of the battle, hit the special button and they should pop up. Almost the same with the horses. Hit the special button and they should form the wedge, can be during battle though. :)

Edit : I think only the English longbowmen can do the stake thing? Not too sure though.

After starting this game all over again for the third time due to computer problems im now playing on my new rig (see sig  )
The graphics is amazing and the sound even better its just wow gobsmacked.

Im playing as england on my first turn i decided to attack york. With just a novice general and 1 regiment of spearmen and 2 archer regiments i move them to york. The settings for the battle arent good its dark, its raining heavly and theres thunder and lightning :) my x-fi fatality edition picks it up lovely and the atmosphere from this first battle im getting is amazing.
I send my men marching down to the south of the village except my general takes the easy side ready for a sneaky attack. My spearman are met with volleys of arrows but with my numbers i just soak it up enough for my archers to get in range, i immediatly change it to fire arrows and watch with a cheesy smirk as i see chargrilled rebels. After there numbers dwindle down to about 20 they ran to the centre of there village protected by a regiment of militia and spearmen. The only thing i could do was send my archers in range to take out the nearest target which luckily was the rebel leader and after 4-5 volleys he goes down. Im just seconds from victory so i charged my spearmen into the opposing spearmen and the remaining militia, but funny enough they seem determined and were giving my spearmen trouble. Next step i charged my general into the backs of the foolish enemy and i sent out a wide spread panick and this led me to cutting down the fleeing rebels and with that my first victory :)

This game rocks the cockerals head, this all happened in turn 1, also which i took on another rebel village with a similar victory but still the charm was still there. If you aint bought this yet then get it i recommend it to all gamers :)

What are people's thoughts on auto management of all your cities or taxes? How do people manage all their cities?

Make sure you keep a minimum garrison of troops in your "safe" cities. Check what city walls you have upgraded to using the "Town" tab at the bottom, and it'll tell you how many troops you can garrison with no upkeep. You'll only gain the no upkeep if you buy the militia units from that town, and free upgrade units will have their unit card in blue. Also from the beginning keep upgrading the markets/ports/fields/mines etc in your cities.

As for getting out of your -20,000 deficit that might be a pain. If you have a huge over abundance of troops in your towns/castles group them all up apart from your frontier provinces, and go attack a well built up city and sack it, that normally brings in 10,000-15,000 florins for me depending on what I attack.

The important thing to do is keep your troop recruitment only to what you need, and keep large armies only in the places you need them and disband the ones you don't.

And yeah, I've always personally self managed all my towns. It adds more to the game for me as the computer isn't always that smart on building up good trade cities.

"Some say the french are better lovers than fighters. It is true. Ask any goat, pig or livestock." Its funny because its true. Hes just become my favorite general! :D

I think the french are getting desperate, they keep churing out large amounts of small siege armies to whittle down my troops from their last remaining province. I'd have squashed them already if the damn spanish wouldn't keep throwing full stacks of armies at me. Ahh well, a few more turns and my reinforcements from Caen will arive and they'll be wiped out.

Its a bit annoying to retrain my Yeoman archers and Swordsmen just to have some cowardly frenchie throw big round burning things at them!

Although a lot of the AI bugs are still there from R:TW, they've improved it in different areas, I have the french on full retreat and they keep putting small armies in my way to weaken my lines and bide themselves time. I've just taken the french province bordering with spain and they have fully reinforced their closest towns. Spain currently hold the whole of modern day spain, along with most of north africa and they are the most advanced with the strongest army. With the danish attacking me from the northeast, spanish from the southwest and the last remnants of france from the southeast annoying me its gonna start get interesting. Just hope I don't annoy another faction or i'll be royally screwed!

Twice last night I lost generals and one, I kid you not, was from the first flaming catapult shot of the fight. Landed straight on his head - dead general, the first casualty of the fight. Man, was I hacked off! The other was from a "Reinforcements delayed?" effort on their part.....I'd been fighting a good fifteen minutes when all of a sudden I look at my unit cards and my general was ain combat.....with three units of heavy cavalry which had conveniently appearedon my side of the river! My fault for being complacent, I guess.

And, some more screenies:

A fireworks show, courtesy of me having more archers than I thought in an army:

Why don't I see any Inquisitors sniffing around Rome eh? Double-standards make me sick:

Milan is in for a shock if they think I'm going to let them walk up this hill without peppering them with arrows:

Yep, they got a shock alright - and I got one of those lovely little crossed swords on my campaign map! And this was on H/H!

I bet you got a serious ammount of money for 1,300 captures :p The most i've had was around that, got something like 15k for them all. But since they constantly attacked me throughout the campaign I executed them all. :)

What does 'Become a Vassal' mean?

What do people choose when you've captured a city? Occupy, sack or exterminate?
