Mercedes Benz and AMG Owners

All those cars look very clean for having just done 1000 miles! Did you all wash them on arrival or something? :D

Haha! A lot of people were constantly going over them with quick detailer. Makes me wince watching them though, scrubbing all that dirt in to the paint. I cleaned mine before I left and it held up pretty well until the way home where it was raining constantly

Sounded like a fantastic trip!

It really was. It was the only time I’ve ever really had post-holiday blues. The 5 days just flew by

i've seen AMG wheels on Ebay but they're not OEM, but i might buy a spare set and get them powder coated but i'm not sure what to do, or buy a set of really scruffy OEMs and get these refurbed instead.
i tell you why, i'm not sure about cheap copies because they might be brittle on pot holes

Call to place your order on . . and get a £25.00 Discount OR a £25.00 DISCOUNT.

That listing is garbage and any unlicensed knock off of actual AMG wheels are bound to be poorly made.

That's amusing because the consensus on C63 groups is that the OEM AMG 19" alloys are incredibly fragile.

Overwhelming opinion is that you're better off with aftermarket. A place called CMWheels gets very good reviews, and does a few reps of AMG wheels - including the 507 alloys.

i had a problem with my AMG today, i researched and found out that the OEM rear wheels might be slightly bent (potholes) and i've noticed a rumbling all the time that sounds like a wheel bearing on the right hand rear side, this noise started two weeks after i bought the car.
i accelerated at full speed up to 90mph and the rear end suddenly veered from side to side, i backed off and it disappeared, the veer was pretty scary, it felt like being caught in a strong gust of wind. New Forest is full of potholes and i've driven over loads i'm wondering if a wheel has got bent but i cant see anything...........it looks like a new set of wheels i'm afraid.

steering feels fine and no veering/vibration below about 90, only that rumbling noise

I had to reset the Command system yesterday as Bluetooth decided not to work. I could not deactivate my unconnected phone (to start again) and could not connect another phone either via Command finding my phone or via the phone finding the car.

I tried many times but it was all broken so had to reset and clear down Command and begin over. That fixed it but most annoying as I had a 4 hour drive when I had lots of calls.

Tech hates me.

Yes the OEM wheels have a bad reputation for cracking, ok this is good enough for me, i'll order BBS CH-R wheels tomorrow.
the main suspicion being, far too many pot holes around here

Another fault popping on my 6 month old C Merc.

it popped up twice on my way down to sunny Basingstoke last week. Didn’t happen on my return journey. Likely to be dirt on the front of the car/sensor?

or I’m going to go through a hedge in a speeding fireball?

I've had that a few times, my experience is it usually clears itself pretty quickly. I'm presuming some of the sensors picked something up which meant it wasn't confident in its ability to use the tech.

We had our 2018 GLC 43 in for a recall and 'system update' a few weeks back. Update failed and SOS lights on the roof panel were flashing once every 10 seconds. Mercedes ME app no longer reported the status of the vehicle and none of the app functions no longer worked. They diagnosed it as telematics system/control unit fail after an over the air update crashed.

Went back into dealers last week to have the telematic system replaced and it's first MOT whilst there and yep, it still doesn't work. Went to pick the car up and we was informed that the technician had tried 10 or so times to apply updates to new control unit and that it kept failing.

They contacted Mercedes 'central' to reset the car from the network and re-add it. We were told to wipe our phones of the app and re-register. Still nothing. Just a fault on the dashboard stating that SOS service not registered every time the ignition is switched on.

It's going back on Monday, but I don't have any faith it'll be fixed as apparently no one is trained on the Mercedes ME systems! So why attempt to change the telematics and try to update it if not trained?!

Anyone else had issues with the SOS system?

I wouldn’t worry, that’s not a fault. It happens when the sensors get dirty. They clear almost instantly unless you get really unlucky and it’s a big bug that’s gone splat on the sensor and won’t budge.

Mercedes electrics do seem flakey compared to other cars I’ve had. I’ve had a few different brain farts this year.
it's the bloody warnings on the dash which are screwed but i ignore them, a Merc isn't user friendly like the Jazz, it has way too many sensors but the JAG XJR is the same.
