Metal Gear Solid 4

Lets smash the face in of the person who keeps making up these rumors :D. Then again, whoever it is does provide light entertainment for myself when I listen to people debate whether it will or won't ;). There is no way Sony would ever let this happen in my opinion. MGS4 and Killzone (possibly GT5) are the only good games (yet to be released) going for the console and naturally they would pay whatever it takes to keep it exclusive. That's my chip in.

/runs and hides in a dark corner for the rest of eternity.

While it wouldn't come as a huge suprise to me if it did appear on 360 at some point I don't really think this new rumour deserves all the press it has got given the little known website that it actually originated from.

People always go on about DVD9 being crippling for games developers, but then 5 games come out on one disc. Not just 5 ordinary games, but 5 very, very good ones.

7GB isn't exactly crippling but it's definitely a limitation and a case of having to manage (recycling textures, lack of freedom, no features etc), most demos these days are going on 1GB so 7GB isn't a lot for a lengthy game.

Most PS3 games are only 20gig etc cause they duplicate the same data over and over to reduce read speeds do they not...

Most?? No... that's just the way the Oblivion crew did it for ONE game, they could have used the HD to cache like Naughty Dog did with Uncharted but for whatever reason chose not to (presumably time restrictions).

It's still worth noting the PS3 version is said to look better as result and if you watch the gametrailers comparison it doesn't pause and stutter half as much as the Xbox 360 version (perhaps had they not had the luxury to repeat textures the PS3 would have stuttered the same).

Peak transfer rates are all well and good but it's not the be all and end all, PS3's BD access may not be as fast as 360's DVD "peak" speed but access is consistent throughout the whole disc at least.

Not really, most engines take up the space, textures are always being re-used, even in PS3 games this is the case, however there is a multiplication of the files on disc as opposed to using the one file through the game. Same result, but the DVD9 version takes up less space.

A lot of people are making big deals of this, but as of yet there have been no issues.

Oh come on don't fall for that, EP1 and EP2 are expansions not games. Add to that portal is very short, and TF2 is an MP only game with only 6 maps (Considering a UT3 map on the PS3 is only about 18 meg we are not talking a lot of space). Everyone also seems to forget Half Life 2 came out at the same time as halo 2 (3 years ago), and when it was released originally it even came out on CD's, so it isn't exactly big.

:)
