Metal Gear Solid. The Phantom pain.

I done the 3 guard mission and presumed I couldn't extract them because it said 'kill them'. I've barely been extracting people. Could I replay that mission even though i killed them?

You have choice.

Just because you are told to kill doesn't mean you have to :D

If you tranq them with a headshot they go down instantly, and I think they stay asleep for good....CQC/Strangulation just knocks them out and stuns them, and they soon wake up again.

This is when looking at performance and what graphics options you may wish to sacrifice.

I have taken their advice on AO... and considered turning down some effects from extra high to high so I could run 1440p DSR smoothly with my 970. I am still unsure.

I sometimes get bummed out when I see far off lights or objects pop in, and I think this is in part down to the resolution I run the game at (i.e. slightly about 1080p).

Just saw a tweet from Kojima where he recommends regularly returning to motherbase between missions. I don't get it... There is nothing to do there and nobody to speak to!

I have to say, whilst the gameplay itself is absolutely brilliant and the best of the series, I am disappointed with pretty much everything else so far I'm afraid.

Especially the characters. Characters I have loved for a long time reduced to nothing(Revolver Ocelot is now just a voice that occasionally tells you about carrots and looks after a dog. Big Boss, far from being this legendary charismatic hero is now practically a mute who ignores everyone when they are speaking to him. It is really odd.

Have you gone built the medical rig and gone back there? There is a certain guest waiting for you there. That cutscene had me floored and you definitely get the emotional investment, especially if you have taken the time to listen to all the cassettes from GZs. I believe there will be more of this later in the game. There is no way I would call the characters flat. BB just speaks less in general because he's becoming an old dog, but if you listen to cassettes he still is very much a talker when in an actual conversation.

From the NVIDIA page itself:

"For greatly improved performance, a few settings can be dialed down a notch, but for 60 FPS at 3840x2160 you'll definitely require a high-performance SLI system or Battlebox given the increased demands of The Phantom Pain's Extra High settings and wide-open zones."

I will play at everything maxed out and notch down settings from there which I don't need to get 60 FPS, shouldn't be too hard.

In those graphs, the 980 Ti isn't overclocked is it?

I have Ground Zeroes and I'm sure I maxed that out at 60 FPS from what I can remember and that ran great so hopefully the performance is like that.

Just escaped from the...

Hospital at the start...

And I've not got a clue what's going on! :D

I'm going to guess some background reading is required to understand? Never played an MGS game in my life!

I'm about 12 hours in now just reached

Africa

Not sure I'll continue tbh. Whilst the game play is great, it just seems like it is mainly a series of repetitive, unconnected tasks with very little story. Not what I expect from a Metal Gear game.

I have rescued Huey, so I thought I would go and talk to him, he is bound to have some interesting things to add, but I can't find him anywhere on motherbase at all. It all seems to be done through these god-awful cassette tapes. Ocelot and Miller aren't there either... What is the point of motherbase?
