#MeToo - is it just different for men and women?

Philip Green (the chairman of the Arcadia Group, which owns the High Street chains Topshop, Burton, Dorothy Perkins, Evans, Miss Selfridge, and Wallis) has been charged in the US with four counts of misdemeanour assault. The charges come after a fitness instructor in Arizona alleged that he repeatedly touched her inappropriately.
I'm sure that it was just another bit of "banter".

Since the charges are asexual, it probably meant he touched her shoulder or arm. I get that pretty much daily at work. It's the norm. I don't like it, but I wouldn't want to have people convicted of violent crime for it even if I could (which I can't, since I'm a man and they're women).

Is slapping people's bottom pretty much daily practice at your work then?
I believe that that is what Philip Green has been accused of.

Incidentally, before commenting on (or naming) your workplace you might want to read the Guardian report about the infamous "High Roller" (LINK)

How convenient that you believed that after commenting and not before. Do you have any evidence for your belief?

Obviously I am not going to name my workplace. Don't be silly. Nor am I going to read an irrelevant article you recommend. I very much doubt if the Guardian article has any connection to me or my workplace.

It would be interesting to mull over where these high end hotel / resort "fitness instructors" lie on a chart between nuns and hookers. You never see ugly ones, like you never see ugly "hostesses". The puritan in me suggests they go in to the job knowing their sexual attractiveness is part of the game, to be utilised. Fending off amorous advances or just plain clumsy groping should be part of the job training. If it's too hot in the kitchen... I strongly suspect finding a wealthy husband or sugar daddy is part of the attraction in such work.

Probably more just that they know that looking hot = better chance of selling their PT services and/or retaining clients... (and of course helps with the side line of fitness model/insta hoe etc..)

Likewise plenty of receptionists/secretaries in the city are very attractive - sometimes this can be quite blatant, one firm I worked at had a takeover, our receptionists were sent to visit the new company - unsurprisingly the hottest two were asked to move over right away... the older one wasn't treated too well at all.

I have yet to see a high ranking executive with a plug ugly PA. If I ever rise to being a high ranking executive, joining their "club" will be easy enough, just like I wouldn't choose a Ford Fiesta as my mode of transport, I doubt I'd go for the bint with a weight or sexual attractiveness issue. Such are the spoils of the executive life, bring it on ;) Choosing a wife is harder if the PA attracts unwarranted attention from Fred in packaging, to you chagrin, you just sack her, more difficult with `er indoors :) More to be said for the bright, hard working ugly ones in that circumstance. such is life...

with the the Christmas tv adverts, I had not realised that Barbie had been weaponized >9pm film4

There is a point where this kind of aggressive gendering perpetuates a problem;
I guess Mattel did their research and the demographic for the purchaser is hit by it, though,
maybe it's a USA add they think is ok, for the uk too.

Compared to the utter insanity we've seen lately, i feel this is relatively harmless. Nothing inherently wrong with the commercial.

I still haven't forgiven Gillette through and I've switched to Harry's Shavers for the foreseeable future.

Katie Hill using her position to have sexual relations with staffers, but is being handled quite differently than if she were a man doing this...

Like the McDonald's CEO? Although to be fair he did have a no relationship with employees clause in his contract which is a little strange if you think about it

Yeah pics were leaked which is obviously quite horrible but a separate issue - the fact is she had sexual relations with staffers under her when she helped draft regulations prohibiting this kind of thing. She has basically resigned so they don't investigate further and taking little to no accountability of her actions.

How would the Katie Hill thing have went down differently if she were male? I mean, story broke and pictures leaked then she resigned in "shame".
All of that would have been the same most likely, just in addition there would be cries of abuse of power and probably likening him to Harvey Weinstein or some-such.
