Metro Redux

having not played the originals but having them on steam i pre-ordered the pack for £16

but after seeing the graphical downgrades on the lighting on 2033 and worse tessellation on Last Light on Neogaf i put in a refund on my preorder and will just play the originals as they are

Having only just recently played both of these I shall wait a couple of years and get them in a sale somewhere.

Just watched it.

Is it me or was the lighting better in the original? The redux version has "lol, lens flair!", and a single lightbulb in that room is blinding like a spotlight in a football stadium.

From that comparison vid the lighting in the original is more realistic :/

No doubt the textures and effects will be better in redux, but why they had to mess up the lighting in the process I don't know.

Its not you the textures are better in the redux but almost everything else looks worse  this is a cynical release on PC.

Yes 4A had 80 people working on it for almost a year.......No was it purely on PC it was PS4/XB1.......................then PC as they knew they could charge for it again

IMO these should have been free upgrades clearly the work was done for the consoles PC was an afterthought here.

Careful, some people played (and recorded/streamed) the game before a 1.2GB patch was released, so it didn't have all the assets and made some stuff look bad.

Some people also don't understand SSAA as they have been running with 0.5 SSAA (rendering at half the games resolution) and were also complaining how blurry it looked...

It looks too colourful and bright as opposed to the darker gritty nature of the original. Not sure why anyone would be interested in this tbh.

It's not just the graphics they changed though

The stealth was pretty broken in 2033, they've integrated the Last Light stealth in to the game so that is a big change.

Gameplay wise, it should play better. Though i've seen a lot of people saying that it looks too bright.

Been playing this last night, glad I didn't get them both in the Steam sale as this has all the improvements. I'm an hour in and already loving it. Spec in my sig and runs plus 60fps everything on Ultra

I wasn't aware of that, it's a fair point then but its definitely too bright

I was half tempted yesterday when I saw the ad on Steam saying I could get both for like 17 quid. But now I know that Last Light Redux will basically look identical compared to the original, I'm not going to bother. I do want the enhanced set, but I'll wait for a Steam sale. I loved 2033 so a tenner (the most I'd pay) for both Redux games is a handy excuse to replay an excellent game with a fresh feel.

As much as I enjoyed it, I feel the same. I never really got into the story that much either.

I'd like to see something akin to the Stalker series. Imagine stocking up on filters, then heading to the surface for ammunition, artifacts etc. I'd like to be able to roam between stations. A currency/trading system wouldn't go amiss either.

Man this game is stunning, playing through the first game Redux and it looks amazing imho. Physx seems to add more as well, butllets shot at the ground and dig it up, like in Borderlands 2, I'm sure wasn't there before..
