Microsoft acquire Activision

They have more subscribers on PC than on Xbox apparently... make of that what you will also.
Really? Says who?
None of my PC gaming friends use gamepass and they are almost 100% smoking Gabe's steampipe for all their games even Halo, sea of thieves, forza etc, the fact you can get 3 years of gamepass for less than 2 full price MS games on steam is just crazy, but a lot of PC gamers are very "steam or death".

Weirdly the same ones who are screaming MS trying to buy a ABK is a monopoly and bad.

The PS5 e.g. has been out for a few years now, the only two PS5 game's I have brought for it are FF7 remake and FF7 reuninion crisis core. I am pretty sure by this time in the PS4 lifespan I had purchased way more games.
That's on you though, right? That's not an indicator of the PS5 and the games that have been released.

We've had a good mix of new games and remastered/BC games. If we're only looking at console exclusives and not considering multi-plat games like Elden Ring, Hogwarts etc. then on PS5 the ones I can think off the top of my head.

You buying 2 games for the PS5 doesn't mean there aren't any PS5 games... The PS4 took a decent amount of time to get up and running too with games, we had Killzone and Knack at that release...!

Astros Playroom (included with the console)
Spiderman: Miles Morales
Demon Souls
Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart
Horizon Forbidden West
Returnal
FF7 (remake)
Last of Us Part 1 (remake)
Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves (remake)
God of War Ragnarok

Steams better than xbox that's why

I've not read through all 17 pages - but surely most people are against this merger - this is obviously not good for gamers.
Cloud, streaming, irrelevant or not, the fact this isn't good for the gamer, which is going to make up 99.99% of this forum, this should be good news.

Why is it 'good for gamers'? Will it make prices go down, will it fix broken games at launch?

Because it is anti competitive. The more businesses we have the better choice for the consumer.

The CMA are an independent body and nothing to do with the government. Be interesting to see what findings/judgements the EU and US regulators come up with. The UK just went first here and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if they all come up with the same verdict.

Yeah but would you have expected CMA to say no because of the future of cloud gaming.

When they announced their revenue numbers or active users for game pass, once you did the numbers it looked like PC had to have more subscribers than xbox. But this was a random article I was reading in the last couple of weeks on eurogamer.

Although to be fair it could just be people paying for the higher tier membership that gives you access to both PC and console games skewing the numbers

According to the LinkedIn profile of Group Product Manager for Xbox Content & Audience Strategy at Microsoft, Mark Skwarski, Xbox Game Pass has over 15 million players on Windows, suggesting that there may be more subscribers playing on PC than on the Xbox consoles.

That's where the information came from, made sure to Google it so I wasn't just imagining it.

Fair enough though i wonder how many of those users were in the £1 for a month play the new release make a new account for the next one. Guess only MS know.

In think Gamepass Ultimate is a fantastic deal and wouldn't dream of not having it.

I suppose I could buy games for the sake of buying games if thats what you meant, but more the reality is there has been barely any current gen games to entice me.

Its also not just me either, if you look at the amount of games released per year from non indie developers its on a gradual decline.

Likewise I brought a lot more games for xbox360/ps3 vs ps4.

Indeed, also consider MS are doing this because they dont want to make new games from scratch, make new IP, they instead want to just buy a already successful brand, and ultimately the result of the merger would likely mean less variety of games from Microsoft first party.

The apetitite for the industry to take risks on new content has shrunk considerably.

Do you think that could be something that just happens as you get older too? I think I'm definitely more 'picky' now with the games I buy compared to when I was in my 20's with no kid or wife so I had more time.

I don't buy every game that releases on PS5 and some don't appeal to me at all - but the ones I have bought (Horizon FW, God of War, Last of Us Part 1 & Spiderman Miles Morales) I've really enjoyed.

Totally in agreement with you about the Xbox 360 era, I swear I bought a new game every 2 weeks from the preowned bin in Gamestation.
