Where exactly does it say it will only cover 3 red lights, all I can see is that they are extending the standard warranty from 1 year to 3 years. Nowhere does it say they are extending it but will cut the things that the warranty can cover? :confused:

That's a good point and I bet heads have rolled or will roll. You have to wonder why the system wasn't stress tested. There are plenty on this forum who have opened them up and solved the overheating problems using common sense and their knowledge of building a PC. The thing is it's a cracking console and it's only real fault are these reliability problems.
 
Great news. To admit it is very courageous of MS, but we have to remember; they should NOT have had these problems in the first place.
 
Damn. That screws my plan to write a blog article on how to fix a dead 360, as I'm expecting this launch day 360 to die sooner rather then later. Either way its superb news for us lot, and I'm very impressed with MS.

They are very specific, it is only 3 Red Lights issues they will look at.

Good news for all you 360 owners :) Hopefully other companies look at this as good practice if they have something inherently faulty and try to sweep it under the carpet and blame the customers for misuse etc!
Think i would still get a full warranty if i was going to get one though, as it seems like theres more Disc eating/ read problems than RROD about at the moment. Id still rather have a console that stayed working through its life than one that may/may not be covered by an extended warranty though. If Microsoft bring out a revised CPU/ GPU and circuit which solves all the other problems I wonder how many consoles owners will RROD theres on purpose (maybe sticking it in a enclosed space on a carpet?) just to get a new version?
 
I can buy the extended warranty anytime from MS can't I? :confused: I'd rather wait a bit and then buy the extra two years... Does it matter? As long as its within the first year?

The problem is people are having as many DRE problems aswell as the TRL's. It doesn't look like they will cover you for DRE problems after the one year warranty expires.

I'm a bit tired, so not sure I'm reading this right

Mines a launch day console and I didnt pay for the extended warranty so...

Is mine now covered by this new warranty?

Sounds like they have sorted the issue out now though, that's why I think this was announced.
 
Yes i can now play mine without fear of it dying and being out of warranty :D

I took this line as meaning they are all coverd Steedie

Microsoft announced today they are extending all Xbox 360 warranties to three years
