Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 announced.

Yeah, gave it another go, stuck at the customizing identity for half an hour. Restarted and couldn't get past the loading screen. I'll probably next try tomorrow, but at least it is good to see there is demand for high quality flight simulators.

this game is such a mess

I can get in, and get stuck on loading screen

Then after 5 attempts got passed loading but when I try to do any flight it gets stuck on loading again

Reading some posts on Reddit it’s wild how many people thought this was going to be some kind of graphical revolution only to realise it basically looks the same as 2020 only with improved lighting and slightly improved ground objects/textures in specific areas.

I still have no idea why people pre order these days. Almost every top game has had issues or been absolute tripe. I wont even touch stalker 2 because of the state of gaming.

I imagine a lot of issues may be due to this being on gamepass as well, lots probably want to try it but may not stick with it due to it not being their thing, and soon level out. My game pass expires this month and suspect this to be a long term game for me, plus a nice MS reward voucher meant it was half price :D But yeah I checked the game awards and realised how little interest I had in most new games this year and this was different.

After watching that. The mitigation sounds more like
"Too many poeple! We expected an average ~200k connections, so we throttled down connections to that figure and er good luck!"

I did not hear the word add, expand, increase or cloud regionalise these databases to mitigate the connectivity issue anywhere in that call.

I tried again this morning and got in no problem.
It did however take three attempts to load once I'd selected the aircraft and departure field in the Free Flight section.

I'd got the graphics settings set to high with my 5800X and 3060ti running at 4k (yep, I know!) but it seemed fairly smooth.
Regardless the sim crashed to desktop shortly before landing en route from North Weald to Cambridge.
