Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 announced.

What did your friend manage to do to get good performance that everyone else isn't?
Try try and try again, he hasn't from what he said fiddled too much with settings more logged on at different times of the day - and night - and he's had a few moments of great sim time.

That's the exception at the moment of course and he said he's finding it frustrating, that said for the 30 odd minutes on Sunday afternoon he showed me - running at 1440p with a 2080ti so hardly high end at all - it looked stunning.

He said it's slowly improving, which makes sense, I'm definitely going to get it I think but not for some time yet.

And it takes it!

Honestly didn't think it would get up this high and nearly didn't make it until I realised my mixture was still at 100%, adjusted down (currently 38%) found more power.

I'm currently climbing at 200ft per minute using vertical speed mode on the AP, just about to hit 12k ft, gonna see how high I can get it, 41nm to destination anyway.

How's this now? Have the bugs and issues from last week been ironed out?
Depends what you mean.

If it's "does the game run now" then yes.

If it's "does it run properly" then probably not. I did my first career mission there and my passenger was walking on the wing while my avatar's head was sticking out through the roof of the plane. Then as I was taxiing to the runway one of my wheels stopped working and I was driving round in circles for a bit.

That said, I persevered and got though it. Had a few flights since on the monitor and a couple in VR and I'm enjoying it.

Yes, it’s working well in that regard now. Connections seem fast and reliable. However, quite a few bugs are present.

Also, there is limited or no compatibility yet with many popular third party add ons.

I think it's okay now they've sorted the streaming issues.

Got my high performance certification in career mode, want to get the jet one next but its expensive.

I'm also (for the time being) not skipping the flight as I work from home I can kinda leave it flying on AP, that might change though at some point.

The missions are a little glitchy although not game breaking, well...... Some of them are kinda but you can just restart.

But generally it's working well at least for me.

One thing I've started doing for cargo. Don't skip. get up in the air, do the two requests to get height, stick it on auto pilot and speed up the sim until you get close to final target. Once there you don't even have to fly the full pattern. Just line up with final and land and don't skip again.

I was aiming to start my first cargo company, a 34k requirement and doing a 2 hour flight as above, in 20 minutes gained me 12k.

Wahts the default button to speed up the simulation?

Has anybody tried this with a limited internet connection yet? I only get 20Mbs at the absolute maximum and don't want to waste my money.

I read it was pulling between 100/200 Mbps during flight so i am not sure 20Mbps will cut it.

Yes, I'm not really interested in what it can pull, but how it works with a limited connection which is still twice MS listed minimum spec for the sim.

anyone running FS2024 on a CPU > 8 cores ? is it utilising all of the cores please ?

buying new mobo/CPU/RAM and can't decide between 7700x and 7900

will be paired with 48gb of DDR5 CL36

I know it's early days but I'm struggling getting everything working, so many little things keep holding me up. Two main things I want to fly are the Hype H145 helo and the Kodiak 100.
Both are almost working right but enough little hicups to make it frustrating. Update came out last night for the Flightsimbuilder G1000 unit so trying that in a bit, hopefully can also start the Kodiak today as I spent over an hour last night not being able to start it or have the engine die on hotstart and it was working fine the day before.
The control setup is also errr, interesting.... Tobii eye tracking isn't working, yoke keeps randomly selecting what profile it wants to use...

I managed to get a refund on this from Microsoft, yeah it's a bit better and I'll likely get it later when it's improved some more, but just don't feel it's going to be too soon so rather refund and decide again later.
