Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 announced.

Before we get excited for 2024 did they ever ‘fix’ 2020?

I used to play it a lot (58003d and 3080) but every update brought with it a raft of technical issues and frame rates just weren’t great. I did have a few addons running but only the official dlc from the store so not quite the same as mods.
Not for me. With each patch the sim got buggier and buggier. Random crashes to desktop. For this reason I won't be rushing to pick up the 2024 edition - will wait a few months and scan player feedback.

I wouldn't expect it to be buggy and crash a lot given FS2020.

Also seems quite stable now, running 4k, DLSS Q, LOD @ 400, and extra overhead due to straming to the tv, and had a flight from mcr airport last night, ran really smooth.

I do have a Gigabit fibre connection, so I’m struggling somewhat with that

Do a google mate, it's the reason for 'marshmallow buildings' phenomenon. There are several posts about it on the official forums. Go to a non photogrammetry area and look at the AI generated buildings, they should look fine.

I also have a don fibre connection and suffered from the marshmallow buildings, googled extensively, found out that even the most minor (seemingly unnoticeable in general use) network disruption can cause issues with photogrammetry streaming. My internet seemingly worked flawlessly, great download speeds etc but MSFS photogrammetry just wasn't rendering in properly a lot of the time. I ended up getting a new router and using the Superhub 4 in modem mode and just like that my issues went away, as soon as I went back to using the Superhub 4 as the router the issue returned.

This sucks its really off putting when flying, I have best internet in my area so not much i can do.

Are you running wireless or wired internet ? If you are wireless it's probably more likely to be down to some kind issue with your home networks signal than the actual connection coming in to your house (presuming its decent speed).

Don't get me wrong MSFS can stream photogrammetry fine via wireless, but the chance of encountering this photogrammetry issue is increased a lot from what I've read.

Ethernet but via the power line.

These should be the extra aircraft in aviator edition:

I'm tempted to go for it but £200 is a little steep. Any idea how it plays on a Xbox Series X? I have a yoke etc that works with it. Not sure my PC will handle this.

Looks like CD Keys will be selling the Aviator edition for £146.49 looking at their website.

Significant saving over the £200 Steam are asking.

I'll deffo be biting at that price.

Says EU version activates in UK. Premium deluxe for £93.39 is a good option.
