*** Microsoft Windows 11 Thoughts & Discussion Thread ***

Getting serious random mouse issues Windows 11 otherwise would be fine. G502 Wireless both with default driver and Logitech software and G502 wired older default driver and lgs installed. Wireless would just stop moving not disconnected but would not resume until turned off and on via the mouse. Did this connected with USB as well. The g502 older wired version not stopping but randomly just slows down and gets jerky and occasionally disappears. Only happens on Win 11 very strange issue.

I use a Razer mouse and keyboard and have been getting random freezes in Windows 11. I also had it in Windows 10 as well. Seems worse in 11. Reboot seems to clear for a while. Also getting the issue where after switching off my screen, it will only allow a maximum 1080p resolution unless I reinstall the driver or reboot, then I can get 4k. Had this in 10 too.

Same, I'm in 2 minds. I want to update but I am still unsure how games would perform, mainly Five M because it can be buggy/laggy even in Win 10

I actually went ahead and did it and honestly it went real easy and without issue, now and i am back to using my computer like nothing ever happened lol.

Definitely doesn't seem totally ready for primetime to me. Cannot be bothered with a full reinstall again so will make do just now. It also does seem to just make most tasks longer with un needed clicks.

Holy nutballs. That was the scariest 5 minutes of my life - Windows 11 decides to update my PC's firmware - all handled by the OS itself with no user intervention. Couldn't tell what the heck it was doing and every time it took longer than 30 seconds to do something, I started getting worried. I hope there's not many more of them over the coming months. It seems to be the way forward now as the old Dell UEFI update software no longer runs.

Won't be the last.

Weren't you given the opportunity to select the update? I ask because Windows 10 shows BIOS updates as optional driver updates that you need to select before they are installing by Windows Update.

I haven't exactly had WU mess up a BIOS update - not in the sense that it's bricked a machine. But I have heard of it trying to push wrong updates where there are laptops with slight variations in the model number. The BIOS then tries to update, but rejects the update as it's for the wrong model.

No, it was downloaded and ready to go. In Windows 10, it was all done via the Alienware/Dell Update application but as I mentioned, that had been failing in Windows 11. So this must be the new way but you just get a black screen saying it's doing a system update with no progress bars or anything. It's all new to me doing it this way.

I never knew Microsoft deployed BIOS updates through Windows Update. I've never ever seen that. You always had to go to the manufacturer's website.

They seem to do it for laptops from what I can see. Not seen it for desktops.

Right I installed Win11 onto my laptop yday

It is a "360" laptop and can go into tablet mode. Win11 appears to correctly identify that I've flipped the screen round as the icons space themselves out, but whenever I go to type, the on screen keyboard just doesn't show anymore. I can't find any options to correct this

Any ideas?

Well windows update is now giving me the option to upgrade to windows 11 but not sure what to do, wait or just upgrade because i am going to do it eventually.
I only use my PC for gaming, I tried 11 for a week or so and soon rolled back. I seemed to be getting way more game crashes and other oddities with sound etc.

Anybody know how I can add the clock back to non primary monitors in Win11? In Win10 you could see the time\date on secondary screens when you had something in full screen on your primary screen. I can't find the option in 11. It's really annoying.
