*** Microsoft Windows 11 Thoughts & Discussion Thread ***

But startisback and others like it are natively integrated to the point they aren't run as third party apps, there isn't even a start menu programs listing for it because of that as it doesn't run like a standalone app.

Anyway, people used tools on 10 to get stuff back they lost from 7, the benefit of startisback is that it gives you a lot more scope to get tweaked just how you want, far beyond 10, even though it works on 10 too to give more control. Uses zero system resources as well because of the first bit mentioned.

I consider it like installing an alternative launcher app on Android, it replaces the often always lacklustere OEM launcher from Google/Samsung/Sony etc and allows you to get the look and feel you want without sacrificing anything.

Although yes there are those on that side of things who say "well why isn't it like that out the box, should not need to install a new launcher" - Correct but here we are, with ample choice to make our devices behave how we have always wanted thankfully.

We really shouldn't have to, Microsoft is advanced enough and should get it right first time with options to the end user. It's as though they have only a team of 2 people working on each section of the OS or something.

Holy nutballs. That was the scariest 5 minutes of my life - Windows 11 decides to update my PC's firmware - all handled by the OS itself with no user intervention. Couldn't tell what the heck it was doing and every time it took longer than 30 seconds to do something, I started getting worried. I hope there's not many more of them over the coming months. It seems to be the way forward now as the old Dell UEFI update software no longer runs.

Won't be the last.

Why could Microsoft not have just left windows 10 style menu as an option? I just really want to swear right now at Microsoft they are useless when it comes to options and they force users on how they want you to use it unless you use 3rd party applications.

Amusing that several recent presentations, streams, etc. people have spotted MS employees running Windows 11 on hardware which is unsupported by Windows 11 according to the MS requirements and/or doesn't have TPM support........ I bet many of them don't have to put up with the **** which is updates either the way most consumers do......

Maybe they are testing?

I didn't realise I could enable TPM in the bios until recently. My system has been running well for ages so I've not been in any hurry to migrate to Windows 11, but I might do so soon.

I feel it's more stable now after it's been out for so long and a lot of the issues I first was having have gone with updates over time. I now am a fully windows 11 user. The company I work for has no plans rolling out 11 to it's customers and there has been no requests.

what is this tablet view?

It's tablet view? Microsofts way.

Had to google how to make the start menu to the left side and make the task bar be like windows 10.....

You going to be Googling a lot on how to do things.
windows was perfected over like 10 years, everyone became used to it.... why try to fix whats not broken...

Windows 2000 come out in February 2000
Windows XP come out in October 2001
Windos vista come out in November 2006
Windows 7 come out in October 2009
Windows 8 come out in October 2012
Windows 10 come out in July 2015
Windows 11 come out in October 2021

Which 10 years was it perfected? Nothing was broken from windows 10 to windows 11, it was just (some might say otherwise) improved over windows 10 so they could sell more and make more money even though they give a lot of free copies away.

btw is there even a reason to buy a cdkey for this? seems like not much incentive to me

If you have windows 10 it should be a free upgrade, which OS did you upgrade from? Bare in mind support / updates for windows 10 will run out October 14, 2025. If you want to stop on windows 10 then roll back.

If would just be nice if 20+ years of the way (some) people use Windows wasn't thrown out, just because "Microsoft doesn't want it there"

Problem is - Microsoft has to please billions of users. Really don't know how they are going to do this if they put everything in what everyone would like.

Would be nice for customisations but that means bloating the install ISOs and customisations then.
