*** Microsoft Windows 11 Thoughts & Discussion Thread ***

Have they put in "Combine Taskbar buttons" and allow us to select "Never" yet in Windows 11 or are they still mucking around?

I do want to go 11 eventually but its a must for me and i don't want to use third party software for a function that's already in Windows 10.
they don't have that, and I haven't heard of any intent to add it
did hear win 12 in 2024 tho, so maybe skip 11 entirely

Windows 11 installed an update today, which completely removed all bluetooth on my pc. Had to uninstall the update to revert back and get it working again. Cheers Microsoft you useless company!

You almost certainly had some bluetooth driver issue that has been reset by teh update, just install the latest version of the driver. for your bluetooth hardware attached. NO need to roll back for such things as this is a Patch Tuesday rollout which includes security patches which you don't want to be missing for obvious reasons.

Not saying it's not possible, but am saying that if it does happen, it's more the rare time it does happen, as opposed to it being a common theme. Personally I have not seen it happen on any machine be they home or work installs. And when it does happen it's usually down to a driver issue or other configuration quirk.

Perhaps but I tried and couldn't find a way to do it. It basically made Bluetooth undiscoverable, it was no longer listed under device settings and the radio button to turn Bluetooth on/off had completely disappeared. I tried a few solutions but nothing worked.

Windows Update sucks in Windows 10 too though. I had an update the other day that hassled me about a bunch of features after the update, ended up with OneDrive syncing everything, took me a while to fix that.

Does anyone else literally despise windows updates that reset all of your audio settings even though no driver gets installed...

We've had it a couple of times where someone has been lazy or been distracted by other stuff and left their PC with something playing music/audio using headphones, Windows has updated during the night, reset their audio settings, restored their apps/desktop session, and suddenly at like 2am it is blaring over their speakers...

Kind of related I had to laugh back when we had the heatwave and the neighbours had friends over and were using a laptop to play music in the garden while having a BBQ/party and randomly the system restarted to do updates.

I'm on 22621.382 before updates. Downloaded via the upgrade assistant.
You're right. I've just downloaded and installed the Windows 11 22H2 ISO from Microsoft and 22621.382 was installed. I did an offline install for Pro and had to use OOBE\BYPASSNRO in command prompt before it allowed me to create a local account.

Time to build my ISO from UUP dump.

I hate the new Task Manager. Space wasted on the left and top of the window and I didn't find the settings button very intuitive to locate, when trying to change the update speed.

Huh, so that's why my bluetooth headset just decided to disconnect in the middle of a game.

Seems like a great time to run an update/install a new driver/do whatever the hell Windows 11 did.
