*** Microsoft Windows 11 Thoughts & Discussion Thread ***

Looks like MS has fixed an age old background issue where Windows flags even a tiny non-important glitch in any app or whatever as a reliability flaw when it isn't, the past week of 24H2:

23H2 would show even if a game was closed successfully that it had "crashed" even though it did not etc.

Yep, done that a couple of times. Clicked 'check for updates' loads of times too.

*edit* This might be why, even though I've been using Windows 11 for nearly 2 years

Question is, how did you install Windows 11 originally?

Did you use Rufus to remove the requirements for Windows 11 or did you enable the features required and then installed Windows 11?

I didn't use Rufus, I have the tpm module on the motherboard (which passed the check), and as far a i remember it just installed.......

I think it was tpm and cpu limitations at the time, and my pc was fine.

I've put the settings back as they were and I'll just wait to see if Windows updates or I find an update patch.

Having a quick look you need tpm 2.0 and secure boot enabled to install Windows 11. Not having secure boot maybe why its failing the checks if its disabled.

Yeah, had secure boot enabled as well at installation. I'll double check in a few minutes to see if its still enabled.

Thanks

*edit* secure boot is still on.....I'll wait and see what happens. Cheers fellas

Anyone had trouble installing/using Explorer Patcher with 24H2?

Was listening to a video about 24H2 and they were saying how MS flagged it as a virus, and how the dev had to do a lot of work due to MS removing the old code base for the taskbar.

Yes, My work laptop classes explorer patcher as a virus and blocks it from installing.

Due to it all being controlled by IT I cannot disable defender to install it now. Gaming PC is fine.

They are doing anything possible to stop people using third party software like explorer patcher

Do you have any games installed that uise Easy Anti Cheat? I have heard its currently blocked from systems that have any games with this installed due to the issues with 24H2

re: explorer patcher

Anyone who has full admin rights on their pc is not going to have an issue adding the defender exclusions detailed on the explorer patcher download page.

The issue above regarding locked down work pcs is not going to apply to many people here.
