Microsoft's new logo!

....and? Doesnt stop him not liking it.

But yes, As usual with regards to the over protective crowd

Not liking a feature\change <> I hate Microsoft

My point is it's like everybody who ****es and moans about each new Facebook layout.

"OMG new FB layout sux! old one was much better!"

1 year later...

"OMG new FB layout sux! old one was much better!"

repeat ad nauseam. Once you get used to the change you'll just moan about the one that replaces it. You confuse "taste" with a general human dislike for change.

Whether you like it or not, it's going to be your welcome screen in two months time.

O HAI.

No it isn't .

It's completely different. With layouts on popular sites you have to get used to the newer layout and learn how to do things that were easily done before all over again. Even Youtube seems to have rolled back their newest homepage layout in favour of the older one. With a logo you can think it's crap because it's crap, nothing to do with disliking change since it won't have any impact on him whatsoever.

I liked the window logo when it actually looked like a window pane.

Now its like bathroom tiles. Not cool.

When did it ever look more like a window than thsqaure vrison. I don't know many windows that are wavy like a flag.

Or are you on about the win95 logo which is flying?

The new design just replaces the previous which was simply the word "Microsoft". The wavey flag etc. was windows, not Microsoft.

Always fun to hear from the normal anti M$ c00l brigade though. Next we'll have an in depth critique for other sophisticated logos as opposed to the simplistic Micro$$$$oft one. As for that Apple with a logo of, errrm a grey apple, and Nike with errrm a tick, they're all n00bs as well. Don't even start on Google with the imaginative word "google" using different colour letters!! they're all n00bs with bland logos a schoolboy could do.
Microsoft - amongst the most successful companies in the world making software billions of people use productively every day.

Internet nerd on a forum - OMGz Micro$shaft are the suckz anyone could do better. I deploy software to "hundreds" of people, have 2 GCSEs and my mum keeps a picture of a rainbow I did once on the fridge so I know much better.
Right up there with "I would not hit that, her elbows are too pointy". Lol

Hating a logo doesn't mean we hate Microsoft and we don't hate the logo because it's simple, we hate the logo because we think it looks crap.

Its clean and dandy and all it needs to be, recognisable.

Th3 old curved windows icon with that god awful drop shadow was so 90's looking.

Plus putting it on context of the video of how it folds in and out to represent the different MS products is very good.

Whilst a bit boring, I don't mind this.
Indeed, logos have to be simple, recognisable and not something that could be confused with something else nor potentially claimed by another company or individual, they also have to be non offensive and useable in every country and culture across the world. I'm pretty sure most people would instantly recognise who that logo belongs to, job done.

All of which is why when you look at almost every brand in the world their corporate identity is almost always simple and often just features their name with minimal graphics (think of everything from Tesco to Hugo Boss)
