Midweek Football Spoilers 28/29th Oct

Amazing game. I don’t recall ever watching a north London derby game like that.

Spurs looked a different side last night. I thought Modric and Bentley were both superb. Pvalyuchenko looked out of place and I’m not comfortable with Gomes in goal. What on earth is going on with these keepers not collecting the ball? I'm hoping he'll be replaced come the transfer window.

Arsenal looked pretty average to me.. nothing special and certainly not a championship winning side.

Anyway Arsenal, you have just conceded 9 goals against Spurs in two games.

Well done lads!

you're right about our title credentials (they were never there) but i don't know which game you were watching, defensively both teams were disgraceful but Arsenal definitely had the better of Tottenham over the whole match, i don't know how posession finished at the end but it was 60/40 or thereabouts to arsenal at half time.

you got us on the counter way too often, mostly because we have denilson in the middle who couldn't stop the milky bar kid on the attack and silvestre/gallas who are terrible together.

both teams have problems ahead but at least you guys have nowhere to go but up, wenger needs to remember what got him the titles at arsenal ....stability at the back and in the middle and both are completey ****** right now and have been since pre season.

apart from his deflected shot at the end of the match which setup the Lennon tap in Modric was extremely average for me as were most which is why the draw is such a gut punch.

Great result for the boro. Bit wierd being in the top half but hopefully we can kick on with a decent result against west ham at home on saturday

Good result but poor performance really, the luck was on Boro's side yesterday which is about time after all the late goals this season!

I don't want to cause arguments, but were all the Spurs fans watching a completely different game of football last night? You got outclassed in every area (apart from Almunia's area)! Every time you got the ball, you had it for about 15 seconds before it was right back at Arsenal's feet, literally there were spans of about 10 - 15 minutes where the ball didn't leave your half. I'm sorry but you got very, very lucky. Two of the goals were outrageously lucky, and your overall play did not deserve a point, as Wenger said, Arsenal were on another level to you last night (apart from the defence)

I really can't believe that result, I thought that spurs were pretty dire for the majority of the match, no real idea, poor passing and I thought we'd run out fairly easy winners, especially when we went 3 - 1 up.

That is what really annoys me, people will go on about a great comeback and Harry is working his magic but Spurs were the worst side we have faced all season. Despite our lot putting in a half arsed performances on the whole we were still much better than them on the night and despite our dominance still were able to **** it up. This is like 2005/2006 all over again....

Fantastic game last night.

I agree with the comments that Spurs were outplayed last night, but that is what you would expect from a team low on confidence and going to a place like the Emirates to play what is usually considered a decent and assured Arsenal side.

That said, despite the performance of Spurs and all that has happened recently we still got a result and thats what makes the outcome and the comments from the Arsenal fans even more sweet. Irrespective of how much you controlled the game (you didnt) how many chances you had (rarely hit the target) and all the talk of gifts for our goals (2 at best, but as an Arsenal fan you wouldnt want to acknowledge the gifts you were given for your goals now would you) the fact is, you couldnt beat us.

The first 20 minutes we were by far the better team and deservedly lead, in fact, we should have scored within the opening minutes by Bale fluffed his chance. Walcott was nothing short of useless all evening, may have plenty of pace but still had little end product (reminding me of our Lennon). As the game went on you got back into it, you were very fortunate at that, had the referee spotted the blatant trip by Fabregas on Bentley you may not have scored the equaliser (the again, we wouldnt have had the cracking game that we did, so I dont mind too much).

If Hutton had anywhere near the confidence he had last season then Ade(I need 40 attempts to score)bayor wouldnt have scored his goal as Hutton would have hammered the ball away well before allowing it to fatally bounce. As for RvP's goal, again, a confident Hutton wouldnt have underhit the pass, in fact, probably wouldnt have gone backwards with the pass at all.

All in all a good game, and RvP was quite easily the best player on the park.

I was watching the same game and correct, both defences were poor. I never said either side was better than the other.. Only that I saw an improved Spurs side and that Arsenal didn't look like a championship winning team. If I was being honest then Arsenal looked in total control after the first 25 minutes until the 89th.

Yeah, I was watching the same game. We were outplayed for most of the night but that's not what matters. We had some fantastic chances and scored some great goals, all from Englishmen. Before Bolton we'd picked up 2 points from 8 games and everyone had written off both the Arsenal and Liverpool games. A week ago confidence was at an all time low, players going public about it all etc. All that counts is goals, and yet again Arsenal proved they don't have what it takes to be a top side in the Prem.

If we can draw at the Emirates at this stage in the season I can't wait to see what happens at WHL after Harry has had more time to form and bond the squad, and of course replace Gomes and strengthen the defense.

wtf was Bouba Diop thinking :/

+ 1,000,000

What an idiot - clear penalty, but how stupid can you be, like he wanted Liverpool to get a pen

Pushing my luck a little here (sorry Kev :p)

Bit of trivia here for you all:

Q. Who were the last team to score 4 or more against the gooners?

A. ;)

Utd in the FA Cup last season wasnt it? (you didnt specify league or anything)

Still can't see the logic in taking RvP off last night, one of the few times I've seen a striker almost control a game by himself, he was terrific.

Spurs could do with him giving Gomes some lessons on coming and punching crosses.

Agreed. If he didn't come off I dont think we would have managed to get the draw.
