Midweek Football Thread *spoilers inside so watch out*

What are you on about?

And who the hell is Eastmond?

Going to be humiliating if City don't win this game.

It might sound slightly stupid but I think it's a bit unsporting of Hughes to play his strongest team, just to try and save face with the owners for being a crap manager.

(If they DO win that is)

:) Yeah he was on fire in that match and he doesn't play that much in the EPL yet so I think a bit of time in the SPL would help him develop physically. Win/Win, unless he got injured up there.

How many cards in the Salzburg match Sean? lol

Yeah. It would work out pretty well for both sides. Hope we get him!

The Lazio goalie pushed over a Salzburg player and the ref only gave him a yellow. Then for the next 15 minutes all the players were just taking each other to the ground. There was like 4 cards in 10 minutes or something. Then in the next half there was another card after play had only just begun.

2-1 to Salzburg now. Looks like they're going through.

Even though they aren't obliged to play a youth team I still think that Hughes isn't being very sportsmanlike with his team selection and it just seems a desperate attempt to get a win and to lift pressure.

Hopefully we can win but I'm not going to hold my breath. If we can at least compete and absorb the pressure they put on us from the wide positions then I'll be happy. If we get thrashed by 3 or 4 then I certainly will not be best pleased!

Well, it's a competition. There is money involved and of course the honor of winning. It's Arsenal's own fault if they don't put out their best team, because Hughes is intent on winning things at Manchester City and he's not going to back down.

Blame the players if they play bad. Blame Wenger for selecting the wrong team if they simply get played off the pitch. :o

I wouldn't say Hughes is a bad manager either. He's got a strong squad and they play some really nice football at times. It's just not gone his way the last few games. Bit like the problem at Arsenal. Great squad but they can't seem to win anything!

I'll keep my sillier opinions in my head from now on! :p

Who thinks Adebarndoor is going to get sent off tonight?

LOL @ Bellamy knocking the ball out with a heavy touch then inspecting his boot.

Thought we did well for the first minute :D, then looked very uncomposed, only just starting to get back into it now. City have been pretty average really.Silvestre needs putting down though, 4 passes from deep in defence that have gone straight to Given in the first 15 mins!

And just as i type wtf is Silvestre doing again.

Celtic scored already but it was offside. :(

I just microwaved some popcorn for the first time. I nearly bricked myself when I noticed how big the bag got!

He's actually not bad as a CB, well before he started playing DM full time.

Song really is a painfully bad CB, you realise he played there till Wenger realised he was so bad shifted him out to RB, was too crap, put him in DM, less bad.

He's so far given away what should have been a penalty, has almost scored two own goals at corners, and has lost Adebayor for every corner aswell as constantly wondering out of position, if City could actually pass properly tonight and stopped giving it to SWP because he's fast, but has no final ball they should be able to pass around them easily. Silvestre has done pretty fantastically so far, even more so considering how he's been for us before.

Theres no fluidity in our play, little understanding, again I see no worth in playing a bunch of people, half not match fit, who rarely play together. We've got the FA and the worthless cup this year, again I'll say we'd get more out of this game with a stronger team with 2-3 changes.

Thankfully Adebayor's looked turd, SWP is his usual useless self and City just aren't clicking at all. Vela's looked hugely better than his last game, but we aren't really getting the ball to him in the box enough, we need him to be receiving throughballs higher up the field and in the box.Traore has to go off, his yellow was silly, the few times SWP got past him he delivered nothing, utterly stupid yellow to give away and with a ref giving fouls for anything against us he has to be subbed.

No he played CB when one of our first choice was injured and did well nearly every time.

Hang on, one of the "own goal" things happened because he beat Ade to the ball yet hes lost him for every corner? You dont half talk a load of tosh. Silvestre has given the ball away approxmately 75% of the times he's attempted a pass although has made a couple of good challenges.
