Bought this last night cos my housemate told me about it. It's a PITA to play, but great fun nontheless!

Once you've mined out any block/placed any block, it will remain so. So yes, you'll have to find another cave system. This won't be too bad if you just look for partial caves into mountains. Use torches or lava towers to find your way back home. Or use minecarts!

You could try strip mining. Basically just dig down in a certain area, and either hope to drop into a cave system, and/or happen across buried materials.

Thats what I do more often that not, usually has favourable results. Depends on the map though, I've had some incredible systems spawn without having to dig a thing.

I know what you mean with the variation in the map, my main one has absolutely packed with coal, which often has a fair few lumps of iron ore nearby!

Ok so I was bored of the single player so added some TNT into my arsenal with an inventory editor and made this. (It was a flat piece of land!)

Also a tower I've built (without cheating). My residence is actually within the hill below. Tower was built just so I can see where my house is when I go wandering off.

Underwater building is awesome All mined, pity I decided to build up in the least interesting map I've spawned..

Bamboo farm is now absolutely massive.

Yep, my whole computer went grey screen of death when I tried to play. Servers are down according to minecraft.net

hmm any one here have a survival multiplayer server going or know of a good one ?
i joined one or two but well... comunity and all haha!

would be a laugh to go crafting mining and building
with some from here?

shame health is not working in SMP yet but still a laugh
some great stuff been made in smp considering you have to mine the blocks etc

After having a read of Mind the gap I'm really tempted to buy this .
