Conditions? How'd you mean?

Conditions for them to spawn? Or Conditions for the spawner? Or? :p

The spawners just tend to be in a sealed cave somewhere...you'll know when you get to one as the wall surround it is stone but has green vines/moss all over it
 
ok guys, need some advice, stuck in an impossible loop, silly me i went to the nether with my two diamond picks and a diamond sword.... and then, who'd have guessed, i died, ive now been in 7 times to try and get my stuff and leg it but i die every time :(

any advice?

Your stuff is probably gone by now, it disappears after a few minutes.

Build a cobblestone base (cobble is immune to damage from ghasts explosive fireball), and put a couple of chests in there to store valuable equipment.

Turn it onto peaceful mode and all the monsters instantly disappear :p

Your stuff will probably be gone already unfortunately. Start again!
 
At last! The final piece! Off to the Nether I go. I've been looking for ages for some diamond.

I've seen one at the surface, and in a few weird places.
I'm pretty sure they have a tendency to appear at the end of tunnels though..
Other than that it's random.

I'm a bit annoyed because I've found like 3 now, but none of them were creeper spawners :(
2 zombie spawns and a spider spawn..

I want more gunpowder :(
 
Thread revival? Is everyone just talking on the server thread, or this still OK for general discussion?

I just dug a 3x3 shaft from the top of the highest mountain I could find, all the way down to bedrock and didn't find a single cave. Not even one empty block. How unlikely is this?

Just did a count. 52 ladders every other block. 104 blocks down x 3 x3 = 936 blocks. Just mined nearly one thousand blocks for nothing! Is it wise mining horizontally right above bedrock, or should I just start over?

It's annoying when you set up your 'home', get it all nice and how you like it, then start mining and there's nothing to be found... happened to me twice now.
