Minecraft (online Lego essentially)

Just did a count. 52 ladders every other block. 104 blocks down x 3 x3 = 936 blocks. Just mined nearly one thousand blocks for nothing! Is it wise mining horizontally right above bedrock, or should I just start over?

It's annoying when you set up your 'home', get it all nice and how you like it, then start mining and there's nothing to be found... happened to me twice now.

You won't find any caves just above bedrock..
The trick is to build a home near a hill that has lots of natural caves in/around it, it will be the same all the way down.

This video I watched explains it pretty clearly and you can continue his series up to ep 45 or something he's on but it's more of a chronicles than a tutorial after a while.

Tips for new guy hmmm... Well I guess having a little go in single player is good to get the basics. First u want to mine some wood (hit trees), then make a work station. Build a house, probably out of dirt on your first night, due to time restrictions. Make tools using sticks and wood/rock/iron/diamond. err.. watch some tutorials perhaps, or check out the minecraft wiki for some basic but functional things like door recipes and bows/swords etc...

I'm getting massive frame drops when it loads new blocks. Minecraft is working once core at about 60%, GPU is at around 60% max. I'm guessing this is a RAM issue? What can be done to help?

Spec in sig. Could a lower RAM speed with better timings help?

Its an issue with today's update that's effecting a bunch of people. No fix for it yet as far as I know, just have to wait for an update.
