Mini keyring-sized digital camera/camcorder

Jellyfish lens if anyone wants to check it out

Didnt seem to do much.

The second camera i got was also a type 3. The bay users i used were
ebuy4all and power-gps

I've got one of these coming too. As Pike said it does look a bit worse/blurry, though that isn't the point; it's for the wider angle view and for a Quid, you can't go wrong.
*Edit. You'll see the effect more further away from objects (for the wider angle.) and closer up; (for the fish eye effect.) most people use them for the wider angle though.

If this is mounted in a car:

a) Is there a way to keep it charged by plugging it into the cigarette lighter?
b) Is there a way to clear the card without having to take it to a PC and plug it in? ie Can you just hit a button to wipe the memory?

This way I can just mount it to my dash and never have to worry about having a crash again as video evidence is always at hand! (Unless its my fault lol!)

Just got an 8GB PNY microSD card in the post today to use when the camera arrives, anyone know if these are any good?

My 4gb pny was useless, the random write speed was very poor and i was getting lots of stutter due to duplicate frames. Swapped it for a kingston and its smooth as silk now. Fingers crossed your 8gb is ok but i wouldnt have another pny again.

No delete function but you could buy 2 memory cards for cheap and swap them after each day and format the used one in your pc.

It can't recharge and record at the same time unfortunately, but you could either
a) mod it and replace the internal battery with AA batteries(for better battery life) or even hard wire it directly into your cigarette lighter(or car battery) someway if you get some form of voltage regulator

b) Use the battery when driving and if the cigarette lighter power remains on when you leave the car then you could charge it up when you ain't driving

I ordered last week on the weekend, still no show... Not going to be impressed with a 2 week delivery :(

Wow , I bet people have bought them as well.

Same with those crappy wireless "spy" pinhole cameras sold on ebay, they go for like £100 from some online stores and they're the same as the £20 ones on ebay. Also they're completely useless.

Wow we in this forum must be single handedly propping up the honkie black-market in dodgy phone camera pcbs

I'd be interested to know how many people on here now own one

And where exactly the hell mine is :D

Got back from a cycle round town.

Few things.

Needs a LOT of light. Lots. I have a very bright front light but the camera is incapable of picking up anything illuminated by it unless its reflective, very close or just large simple shapes. Probably need a few thousand watt light. Since mine is 2 watts, it's a bit short.

Works OK on decently light streets.

Went off road down some paths and you see zip diddly squat except the occasional bush or whatnot going past out of pitch darkness.

Also, the recording was broken into two files. I didn't touch any controls but when the initial recording reached 1.38GB in size it stopped and the camera started a new file. Missed a few frames in the time between the two files but not much.

As the camera sensor is so small, it doesn't have a big enough surface to pick up enough light, all cameras this size have this problem. Should also record a new file every 30mins or so, probably what happened in your case

Well there's not much point trying to get colour, need a picture to start with. Might be worth removing the filter and trying with IR lights.

The kind of visible light you'd need to mount for darkness would be seriously antisocial on a bike. Mine's bad enough shining at you on an unlit path.

One other thing, mounted directly on a bike frame it judders quite a bit. Any bump, you see it.

Going to be hilarious if I end up wearing a helmet, not for the safety reason which I disagree with but just so I have a stable platform for all this crap :D
