Mini keyring-sized digital camera/camcorder

According to some paperwork i had with one of my camera's the slow flashing light means low charge (not enough power getting to the camera to charge it). You try another usb cable.

It was published on that website all about this camera (forgot the address now, its on one of the first pages) that the USB cables supplied with these cameras are totally crap and they cannot even be used for anything else i.e. digital cameras as they are very poorly made - the only solution as mentioned is to source a better USB cable.

to anyone that's interested, i am going to convert my keychain cam into a slightly bigger long-lasting recorder. i've bought a 3xAA battery case from fleabay, as well as a MicroSD to SD converter so i can use cheaper, faster, full-size SD cards

using 3 1.2v rechargeable AAs, i ought to be able to extend the runtime from an hour to around fifteen or so.

i might need to buy a 64GB SD card though :p

Looking to get one of these for some pranks that will be played on housemates.

Has anything been released recently that gives better quality/is cheaper/is better?

Also, where is the cheapest place to buy these from. I heard that you can get different versions, I am looking for the best version at the cheapest price.

Thanks.

I received mine today, and oh man.. It was so worth the seven quid. It's smaller than I thought and the video quality is awesome considering the price. It even feels nice to hold. Definitely one of the better investments I've made lately.

got 3 today from the original link, arrived quick but all of them just flash after being on charge for upto 2 hours, tried the reset and other cables etc :/ hmpf

it took a day short of 2 weeks for mine to arrive.

its charging now and what i have read the light isn't a good indicator of charge level. apparently about 1 hour for a full charge.

need to get a card now. retail shops are a rip off . going to order online

Mine won't charge, the light is supposed to be constantly on when it's charging and to turn off when it's fully charged. I left it charging overnight and the light hadn't turned off. However, I went back to the eBay listing and noticed this:

Package Includes:
* 1 x Car key-Shaped Video Camera(Not included Memory Card)
* 1 x USB cable(Not included charger)
* 1 x Manual in English

I'm going to ask the seller how to charge this thing.

All that means is that is doesn't come with a wall plug.
They charge from the computer socket fine. And over night is too long, a couple of hours is all it needs, I don't think these things have very sophisticated charging circuits so don't leave them on for too long. I'm not convinced the light goes out when it is charged either.

Have you actually tried to use it?

Yeah I have, it worked fine out of the box when I tested it for three short videos, but then started the flashing which is supposed to mean the charge is low. Every time that I test it after charging it, the light just starts flashing again.

Stuck mine to my R/C Heli but the video is quite wobbly, any idea's for an anti-vibration mount?

have you tried a different cable? the supplied ones are rubbish by all accounts (I got an adapter with mine rather than a cable)

I've seen the same problem on quite a few of the cameras, even though the light blinks they still charge. However, I just read that you left it on over night, this is bad. 2-3 hours max is what I recommend, overnight will have caused the battery to swell in size and could have broken it. I’ve got a spare battery from a dud camera, if you cover posting I can send it, it’s an easy solder joint to replace.

Oh, and the light does not go out when the camera is fully charged.
