Miss England- Having a laugh?

Yup, I agree. But then who makes the media? :)

Sadly, we do. We buy it, we love it, we dwell on it.
But who buys the majority of fashion magazines? Women , so in actual fact it's women who are to blame for perpetuating this vicious cycle*.

So she can have a Kit Kat.

There's a line between curvy and fat...

...and she clearly ate it.
Naughty I know but I laughed :p.

*This is quite blatantly sarcasm, so don't get upset over it.

I'd say the woman in the first pic is fat not just large, that itself I don't find that appealling but added I don't find her facial features that nice either its a pass from me.

But good luck to her anyway...........she'll need it :D (joke!)

Oh my lordy lord.

Some of you guys are the WHOLE reason why us women have such complexes over our bodies.

Ok, the girls not a stick nor your standard size 0 model but CHRIST. Some of the things being said is exactly the kind of thing I would expect to hear from a bunch of pubescent, thick skulled, idiotic school children.

What is wrong with you people?!!?!

Yes, fine, we all have our own definition of attractive but does that grant us the right to go slagging off this girl, who I a) think is damn brave to do what she's doing when she has to contend with such dweebs as yourselves and b) you know NOTHING about. How on EARTH did someone come to the conclusion she's not a role model? Just because she's not a stick she's a bad influence?! I'm not being funny but if we are going to look at it like that - what about Dawn French? What a bloody fantastic woman we have there. You saying she's a poor role model too because she's obese? Rubbish.

And before you start ranting at me that this is a beauty competition and thus not a good role model as it will make girls run out and stuff their faces with "Pasties" and things... you're mad. Never ever in this world will we see this happen - please do prove me wrong and by all means point me in the direction of any case studies of women eating themselves silly so they can get larger and therefore "more attractive". I imagine you will find yourselves a realm of anorexia studies on your quest.

Oh yes, and coming back to comments like "pasty" muncher and thus... they are just not needed. For all you know she could be a bloody good healthy eater but nooooo. Just throw in the presumptions and insults and rip her apart like a pack of animals. Go on. No harm done in stuff like that is there?

Seriously... People like you make me sick. Literally too. I have been to hell and back with problems about how I look and feel about myself and it's because of the likes of some of you. Your comments and degrading thoughts WRECK peoples lives. WRECK them.

Please note, this isn't by any means directed at everyone on this thread. I'm sure it's quite evident which people I am referring to.

I cannot believe any of this. I am shocked and disgusted at so many of you it's unbelievable.

Can I just say I am so happy people haven't all jumped on the slagging-the-girl off bandwagon and have managed to state your opinions in a non offensive manner. Hopefully some idiots on here will learn from the likes of you guys.

i agree, well said

No, stop twisting my words. I'm not going to repeat myself again :\

I think your statement was offensive and obnoxios, but you couldn't care, so that dosen't matter.

I wasn't referring to a scale of health, I'm talking about normally accepted body size.

Normally accepted body sizes by whos standards? That would be your own. Stop implying that because you don't find anything other then perfect women attractive that they are wrong and idiots. You cannot aply 'normal' to an argument about humans anatomy.

Well said :)

Actually its quite serious. BDC is not just found in women, there are plenty of men out there, in the gym and on the street doing what they can to be what a woman wants (in terms of body), and, just like women and fat loss pills, there is a significant increase in the amount of young males who are turning to steroids, just to gain the look they want.

Slightly differnt but still no where near the ammount of presure on females.

You can post how you want, but then saying 'I can't be bothered to explain it' is rather facile.

Not at all... I seriously couldn't be bothered, I didnt realise my post was so difficult to understand.

/shrugs

As my maths teacher once said to me ...

Once you've had a fat, you won't look back!

Actually I think the first woman is fat - i.e. she has more weight than she should do. Also, I don't get the whole taking offence at being called fat thing either. Surely people can just look in the mirror and see if they're fat? If they are then they should know and accept it and not take offence and if they aren't then they shouldn't care.

I know of that condition, I was referring to the amount of pressure from everyday life - such as magazines/papers, shops/advertisements and even just other people - e.g. a night out for an average man, bang on a shirt and trousers and some gloop in your hair. Job done. Not exactly the same for a woman's routine.

No, that is not an average mans routine at all. Go into town on an evening, you will see all the clones (just like the women) who have spent quite a while on choosing the right clothes, sorting their face out and also sorting the hair.
Metrosexual isnt a fantasy term, it applies to a lot of men!

Magazines and papers.... how many mens mags are there now with ripped blokes on the front, generally with a tasty woman nearby?
How many lads mags show 'stunning' women who happen to be dating fit blokes? Most of them. You never see stunners with Vegas / Moyles sized men.
More and more women are taking notice of top sports stars, so are wanting that shape of man.

You might not be caught by the marketing, but many men are.

But who buys the majority of fashion magazines?

It's done to make money, they will dress it up and change it when its needed. Do I really need to explain to you the inner workings of the Magazines and PA compaines of how they manipulate the image of women to other men and women?

But who buys the majority of fashion magazines? Women , so in actual fact it's women who are to blame for perpetuating this vicious cycle*.

I stopped buying them because of this reason. If I read a magazine I rip out all the ads and fashion pages as its just ridiculous.

Since digital imaging happened, unless I took the photo myself I wouldn't believe what I was seeing was real anyway.

My opinion in the OP is just for PR purposes and it seems to be working.

To be honest, I feel a bit sorry for her.

Its obvious there is no way she should be in that competition despite the show of support from some...

She is only there because of all the hype surrounding skinny models etc. Two or three years ago she'd have been laughed out of the competition.

I think your statement was offensive and obnoxios, but you couldn't care, so that dosen't matter.

I find the fact that you can't take the time to spell correctly offensive and obnoxious, but I didn't bring it up before.

Normally accepted body sizes by whos standards? That would be your own. Stop implying that because you don't find anything other then perfect women attractive that they are wrong and idiots. You cannot aply 'normal' to an argument about humans anatomy.

Normally accepted by the majority of our population. It's really really obvious that most people find slimmer women attractive, unless all your friends happen to be chubby chasers. I never said that people who don't find anything but the perfect woman attractive are idiots, I said people who can't see that slimmer women are quite clearly found more attractive by the general population than fatter women are either stupid or aren't opening their eyes.

Stop twisting my words. That's the last time I'll say it.

You might not be caught by the marketing, but many men are.

No one is denying the actions of the media on men too, but it's a fact that men do not have the same view on personal appreance as women on a whole scale. It's increasing but is no where near the same ammounts as women.
