Mister FPGA

Thanks. Yeah seen the 8th mentioned a couple of times and 2x the quantity this time around. Will probably be fuming in an hour :)

Not impressed with the communications I mean make people think it’s the 8th then on the 8th say there’s a delay. How about telling them about the delay before the 8th so they don’t waste their time.

What's the issue with both?

I've seen a few complaints around the IO board and popping.
With the IO board sound issues and for some reason the Taki USB won't power an external cd/dvd drive but it works perfectly fine with the QMTEC IO board (the one with 4 built in USB ports)

My friend got shocked when plugging something into one of the ports as well

Seems like a fair few quality control issues on both. Really bad that your friend got a shock, surely that should not happen! Maybe some of the quality control issues will be ironed out down the line. QMTECH boards seemed to have a potential electrical issue where the posts were IRC? (May have been isolated to batch or that individual - Lou. I haven't been keeping up).

I was going to pick up a third MiSTer (don't know why lol). But way before this post thought I would hold off for the handheld.

With the QMTEC posts, that's on the board without the built in SDRAM. If you get the one with built in SDRAM, you won't find that issue. QMTEC did include a warning in the boards manual, it's just a shame you had to dig deep to find the manual online, rather than it being shipped with it, it's literally a one pager as well!

Updated my MiSTer yesterday. Again it has been a while and I've been neglecting it really. I have moved it from the VGA Dell E156Fpb monitor as whilst it's a nice to have the separate dedicated screen the reality is I prefer playing most of the console games on a bigger screen. So I've adjusted the .ini file to try 1980x1440p which works very well on the 43" TV I have in the office. And means perfect ratios with most cores.

One question for you all though, I have finally installed the N64 core as part of the Update_All and tried to do some research into setup etc. Found out about the new patches for the games that the core had trouble running (Jet Force Gemini etc.) however overall the core seems light on documentation. Unless I'm missing something.

I think games are meant to be in .zip format and not .7z or anything else? Is that correct?

Any more comments on the Taki boards? Seems to be a bit quiet in here since the issues with connecting them together.
Issues connecting them together? (As in the image Zaf shared?)

Taki did a video on some quality assurance issues with previous batch, common things etc. This batch is said to be QA'd in house.

Yeah think the ethernet port was in the wrong area.

I'll check out his newest videos.

Zaf removed that from here and Reddit. I am not sure why though. I only saw it via him, other issues have mostly been RAM speeds from what I read, but Taki did document some others. Hopefully QA will be better this time round. The unit works well, although the only other concerning posts I have seen is around the additional voltage causing heat on the board (the step down - I have seen a few reports around the additional voltage causing cores to glitch, but who knows what their set up was/is in terms of cooling, ambient and space around the MiSTer). Voltage step down can be avoided by using a 5v USB C adapter, the only one closest I have is the Pi4 5.1v. I personally haven't had any issues using mine which is over 5v.
