Modding the Antec Skeleton

quick update, a bulgin switch fits just about perfect in place of the boring power switch on this case.plus it is loads longer, the old one has cables too short to hide. didnt bother posting a pic, just imagine a bulgin switch with a green light on the case!

Looking good m8. Glad the case has been put to good use:).

after chopping and changing the ways i could get water in this case, i am finally there....well almost!
i just fell short of my 1/2" tubing so good old OcUK sent me some 7/16 which arrived next day (today), wooo!

res top fits perfect for access to the filler, loads of room for the tubes nowive changed size.

not sure if i should change the fluid, its a all a bit too dark now. could always place some light in there i guess.

moved the hard drive to the other side and the fan controller only just fits, like by 1mm (ish). cables braided but need hiding a bit more.

so jobs to do are: add fans to the rad, maybe change the rad too. get rid of that air in the tube, which i am doing as i type.braid fan and pump cables. find something more subtle for under the pump and then start the mesh/perspex for the top of the case. all in all, a good days work and my 360 came back from repair, yipeeeee!

very nice Bluntside, I think a lot of people will see your work and think of buying this case as the inability to improve cooling by fiting big HSFs is putting a fair few off, and you've shown water cooling is an option. I agree re the colour of the fluid, perhaps orange to match the copper on the mobo??
Also, can I ask where you got the bulgin power switch, I have the original in mine, and the led has never worked, making it even more boring. last question, what PSU are you using, and have you had any overheating problems with it?

very nice but why didn't u get a black fan controller

yeah might do, thats all i had hanging around:p

cheers, still think its a bit "marmite" but yeah, it shouldnt put people off. i thought i would have to butcher the case but so far all i need to do is drill a hole for a rad mount.
i prefer to be more subtle with the colour of the fluid but it is way too dark now, dont think they do a white?, will look around and see what takes my fancy.
bulgin switches can be google shopped or sometimes on them auction sites, they tend to be listed as vandle switches too. you might need some spare plastic covers for the mobo pins because they tend to come with just the copper bits on the end of the wires, they fit but dont look too tidy.
sadly, my PSU is the dreaded hyper type r, doing well in its old age and only rma'd once:D not noticed any overheating, theres not much room for the 120mm fan to do much being so close to the mobo tray though.
just waiting for some ac ryan mesh to come back in stock, then i will add some over the top to stop it looking so bare. still some work to go but will send more pictures as and when, hope you and the other owners do the same!

Lots of mine on here already, as started the thread off (nice to see it being taken up). Apart from braiding and wiring and the addition of a custom switch box I haven't done much. Like you i'm waiting fro some parts to come back into stock, I'm thinking of putting some sheets of one way mirror behind the side mesh grills so that when unlit from the inside they merely reflect the mesh, but when i turn on the internal lights mounted under the roof of the lower section you will be able to see in side. Might look naff but I won't know until I try it out.

hey bluntside, hows the water cooling behaving?
well, its moving! got a strange bit of foaming going on but thinking of draining and starting again. not made my mind up on colour but now i have discovered that i can use my second pcie slot as a primary ive got loads more room:eek:
will make a nice viewing area for the x2 and allow me to water the rest of the board, if my blocks fit......
mesh should be here by next week thanks to mike gunnz(cheers in advance), so loads ahead but will keep posting for the minority:D

first side and front meshed, gonna do the rest today hopefully...

bit of a ball ache to do, its slightly thinner and smaller than the mesh that comes on the case but that makes it easier to manipulate.
i feel quite chuffed so far, some lighting and redoing the water might give a nice look and less open. as long as i dont end up moulding it to look like a normal case:D

Looks really good with that mesh, great stuff.
Still thinking about getting one of these, but I really should go for the PII 920 before getting another case... Sigh, curse you indecisiveness!

What's the overall opinion of this case now that people have had time to overcome it's shortcomings?

I must say, that mesh looks good. Stops people like me from stupidly sticking their fingers inside it when it's switched on. :p

Looking really nice bluntside, and all I've done lately is lob in yet another PSU and re braid the cables yet again!!! Love to see some photos of how meshing is attached + a few hints and tips etc.
I've recieved my 2way mirror stuff now so hopefully come the weekend will have a pop at putting behind mesh on lower section, with the idea that it looks like mirror until internal ccfls are turned on.
I have to say to date this is the only modded skeleton I've seen. keep up the good work matey. any one know of any others?
Hi allankapo
nice case to work with but takes getting used to as totally dif to anything you'll have played with before. cable management is an artform to say the least. dust not a problem, had mine 4 months and no probs that a can of air won't solve. the only place it seems to settle after a while is on the top of the big boy fan, I assume this is a static electric type thing as it does it to some degree on the front hdd fan. a simple wipe with a cloth or failing that the fingers gets it off so no worries. Not familiar with the fan you mention, but the one I have fits (just). Some pics of the bequiet going in + I managed to attach everything DVD HDDx2 fans and lights etc) by modding one cable and reversing it back itself.
